Hi everyone. I finally received my Sager 5760 today from Powernotebooks.com (thanks Ron!) and typing on it as we speak. Everything seems good and I couldn't have made a better decision. I almost went with a Asus W2Pb, but the graphics card wasn't good enough.

Just wondering about a few things:

    1. I was just checking out the owner's manual, and I noticed on their diagram that on page 18, "bottom view" diagram, #6 says it has a SUBWOOFER! It's pretty small, but I can definitely hear some bass coming out of it. Can this be real, misprint, or my imagination? I didn't hear about this in any reviews, and I checked sager's website, and their pictures doesn't even show the subwoofer holes that my bottom has. It's a very pleasant suprise! I almost didn't buy it b/c I thought it wouldn't be able to produce enough sound with the internal speakers. I was mistaken.

    2. Is it just me, or is the top area of the keyboard bulging up a little bit? Especially around the F12 key. The rest of the keyboard is rock solid with little or no flex, but I'm just curious as to why there's some uneveness. Does anyone else have this?

    3. My Elantech touchpad has stopped working properly. I can still track on it, but the scroll function has stopped. I'm downloading the newest driver right now, so hopefully that helps.

Thanks everyone for your information and helping me with my decision.

    1) yes you do have a subwoofer, pretty much all of the Clevo gaming notebooks have it standard.

    2) If its a bit bulgy, which mine was, I would lift up the keyboard to see if a wire is causing that. My wireless card's wire was not well placed, which caused my bulge. The keyboard is simple to remove, its screwless.
    Read this for instructions:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=1680188&postcount=6

    3) Actually, I found it much better to not use the software for the touchpad. The default driver that XP or Vista uses is perfect.... all scrolling and uses are fine.

Thanks for the advice Gophn. I have a couple more questions.

    1. Did that misplaced wire effect your wireless signal? I'm 10 feet away and I'm only getting 3/5 bars. I'm used to getting full bars when I'm on my desktop that's in the next room. Will fixing it help with the signal?

    2. Should I be worried that I only scored 7467 on 3DMark05? I know I'm running Vista and its 64-bit, but that seems awfully low when I ATLEAST expected around in the mid 8000's. I checked and I definitely have the latest drivers.

    Thanks.

No, the misplaced wire should not affect the wireless signal, its more software configs.

To boost the performance of a Wireless Module (usually with Intel)
    1) you should go to Control Panel
    2) go to Network Connections
    3) open Wireless Network Connection and hit the Properties button
    4) (you should be in the Wireless Network Connection windows), Click the Configure button
    5) (you should be in a new window) go to the Advanced tab
    6) under the Property section, scroll down and look for Power Management (or Transmit Power)
    7) (as you can see it defaults at Lowest) UNCHECK the "Use default" option, and change it to Highest (for max performance)
    8) hit OK and OK.

    Thats it.

You should notice an increase of wifi performance, both in speed and range.

    Enjoy

3DMark05 is too outdated [single-threaded program, does not utilize dual cores], I would recommend to use at least 3DMark06.

As for your scores, do not just look at the total 3DMarks, look at the CPU scores as well. The main thing about benchmarking, is to get the best score, you must turn off as many resource hogs as possible, such as:
    - System Restore (wastes about 5-15% resources wasted)
    - Anti-Virus (5-20% resources wasted)
    - Spyware Detector (5-10% wasted)
    - other un-needed background programs (Adobe, Quicktime, etc....)

So you should not just worry about your scores... compared to another, its better to look towards your improvements [before & after doing the tweaks for CPU and resource optimizing]

Well, i got my Sager NP 5760 yesterday and seem to face the same issues as mentioned by SneekGeek.

I got it loaded with Vista 64 bit so immediately formatted the system with Vista 32 bit and loaded the latest drivers for it.

3DMark05 score was about 7700 which was pretty low for a 7950GTX but like Gophn mentioned I think it is something to do with the forceware drivers for VISTA. Anyhow, loaded up 3Dmark06 which scored about 5100 so i assume everything seems fine there as thats near the got scores of 7950GTX go with my Core 2 Duo 7200.

But the issue is that I seem to get 3/5 bars for my wireless signal even though i am 6 feet away from the router. Plus I dont even seem to get signals that was possible with my old lappie.. :(

The fix like Gophn mentioned doesnt seem to work here as under the Advanced tab there is no 'Power Management' but wat matches close is a 'Adhoc Power Management' which is set to Disabled by default and has only options to set to Balance or better battery. Is this something to do with the drivers???

What kind of wireless module?? Intel? Gigabyte? MSI? etc..
    Wireless-G? Wireless-N? etc..

Most of the time, the software for each wireless module has an option to increase performance/range.

I just updated the "performance boost" post from above for the 3945ABG.

    - Look for the Transmit Power section, make sure its highest power setting.
    - and check the Throughput Enhancement, Enable it.

I hope this does something for you.

Did you try drivers from Intel's site?

I let Windows Vista install the drivers for my Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG card and I never have any problems.

Sounds like your system model only comes with one antennae..
