Just received my P150EM with an IB processor and 660m. Any questions?

I may be behind on my intel a wee bit, but i don't think too many people have received the 660m in a 150em yet. I just wanted to lend a hand to a forum that has helped me decide on my laptop. If you have specific questions about the graphics card, let me know (and give me help on how to answer it, tech level is medium high.).

What I CAN tell you right now is that I got 250 frames per second constant in call of duty 4 on my HD 5850 / Q9550 combo (slight overclock on both). With this setup in my laptop, stock, I get 180-200fps at the same settings.

    Customizations:

Display: 15.6" 1920 x 1080 FHD LED Backlit Matte Display
Display Upgrades: Spyder 3 Elite Professional Color Calibration w/ Profile Disc
    Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM, 6MB L3 Cache, 2.3-3.3GHz
    Memory: (8GB) 8192MB, PC3-12800/1600MHz DDR3 - 2 SO-DIMM
    Graphics Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M (Kepler) 1.5GB GDDR5
    Hard Drive: 500GB 7200rpm 2.5" SATA 300
Optical Drive Bay: Empty Hard Drive Caddy
    Operating System: None
Wireless: Internal 802.11B/G/N LAN and Bluetooth Card
Cooling: IC Diamond 7 Thermal Compound, CPU & GPU
+I added a 120gb corsair force 3 ssd as well

I think the major curiosity regarding the 660m is probably battery life gain.

well, at that rate, wouldn't OP opt for a 670m/675m? price difference is marginal

If you just wanted a 660M, why didn't you just get a P151EM?

I think OP doesn't want a rebadged card, you know ;) And 660m is 50$ cheaper than 670m and the performance difference between the two is minimal. OP can certainly OC and pass the 670m stock clock mark.
Presumably backlit keyboard, my best guest?

Can you monitor and tell us the temps under load @ stock clock and OC ?

i think that's what wild05kid05's implying. i'd be curious to know why op decided on the 660 myself.

    EDIT: didn't refresh the tab

    ah, makes sense.

Basically, how well it plays games and the temps and any overclocking info is appreciated. If you happen to have specific games you could test, I'm most interested in StarCraft II and Battlefield 3. Where did you get a P150EM with a 660M though? Thanks!

    Bro are you sure it's NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M (Kepler) 1.5GB GDDR5, isn't it 2GB GDDR5??

I don't know if anyone has tested whether the Kepler chips support three external monitors (Fermi didn't). Could you test and see if you can use three external displays at the same time? Thanks!

edit: nm, looks like Mythlogic tested it and they were not able to get three external displays to work.

What kind of noise levels are you getting from performing regular tasks (such as browsing the internet or typing papers) and while you are playing games?

The Malibal Lotus P150EM that I got is the non-backlit keyboard version, is that what you mean?

    1. I had to get the 660m because the 670m was backordered, and I NEEDED the laptop by the 11th before I head off to China. I ordered it a month ago and didn't expect it to take 30 days to get the laptop.

See above :) Also, better battery life never hurt anyone.. especially if I plan on selling this when I get back from my trip, newer tech = lower depreciation.

    1. I have sc2 and bf3, I'll put up benchmarks when I get them set up.
2.the P150EM is the lower version of the P150EM-SE on the Malibal website.

I'll get back to you if it isn't.

Almost SILENT when not gaming. Gaming, a definite hum. I can't hear the laptop through my headphones.

The whole p150em and p150em SE thing that Malibal is confusing. At first glance it makes you think that both are built on the Clevo p150em chassis, but one is the p151em.

Agreed. Didn't realize it was such a problem until I posted this thread.

Once you do run the benchmarks for SC2/anything else relatively demanding, would you mind checking on the peak CPU/GPU temperatures?

Also, would you mind elaborating a bit on the quality of the fan noise during gaming (ie. if it's a high-pitched whine, or lower-pitched blow?)

    Many thanks!

Can it run tf2 max settings? list fps
Can it run BF3 max settings? list fps
Can it run Portal 2 max settings? list fps

:D Basically can you check fps for most played games?

OH! and temps while running these tests. :)

See, I'm confused about this too. I asked a similar question in the gaming sub-forum here on NBR regarding this. The malibal 151EM has a 1.5GB GDDR5 660M listed, logicalblueone (Australian reseller) has a 1.0GB GDDR5 for its 660M and then xotic is offering an ASUS (don't remember model number) with 2.0GB GDDR5 for its 660M.

So, are these all the same cards? I didn't know there were 3 variations for the same thing. If there are these 3, what would the performance difference be?

What kind of FPS do you get in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat?
