Anyone have a trick for keeping the power plug secured in place when using your notebook on your lap? Mine tends to work itself loose after a while of shifting my laptop around on my lap (it sits on a Coolermaster Notepal). I noticed that these plugs don't fit as snug as some of the laptops I've used.

I've not noticed them ever being particularly loose myself. If you're not pulling the brick around with the cord, I don't think it should get loose at all.

    happened on my m860tu
the 2 or 3 prongs that hold the plug in place have just opened up slightly and lost their sringyness. before ( ) and now ( )
a watch screwdriver to prize them inwards slightly done the trick for me.
remove battery and mains and press power button for 15-20 seconds to dispel any power first.

I've noticed this too, but I just plug it in with some extra force and it helps.

When the plug on my power cord starting slipping out occasionally, I bought a small device that clamps onto the power cord with a small amount of friction. It then plugs into an empty port that I don't use on the back of the notebook, and helps keep the plug from getting pulled loose. That, and a small strip of electrical tape I wrapped around the plug have been working fine for several years.

It's a snug fit, don't get me wrong. It just tends to work itself loose after a while. The brick isn't being tugged on, however.

Gotcha. In that case, the ideas suggested above are actually pretty clever (Ag76 in particular). I'd give those a try to see if it can help. Or just consider pinching the edge of the cord under your cooler/using a bit of electrical tape/velcro to secure it to the side of your cooler.

Yeah, I was just thinking of a way to secure some sort of velcro strap to the cooler to help hold it in place. Thanks for the tips guys!
