Keyboard Overheat Issue in Clevo P671-RG (Schenker XMG P706)

Hi guys,

First time poster here but I've been reading a lot of threads since buying my first decent gaming laptop (the model mentioned above, second hand).

The owner before me assures me they only used the laptop for light workloads, which I'm not sure whether to believe considering the issue, despite the outward appearance of the laptop looking brand new.

I currently have the relatively well documented clevo issue, the W key seems to have extreme latency when the laptop gets hot, pressing the key will work as normal but when releasing it will carry on functioning as if pressed anywhere from 1-10 seconds, depending on how long it was pressed originally, and I believe it's also effected by how warm the laptop gets.

So, to remedy this, I've ordered a brand new replacement keyboard (the previous owner paid half the cost).

Assuming the new keyboard remedies the issue for now, I want to see if any of you guys have any ideas on how to potentially prevent the issue from recurring (which has also been documented). I do not like the idea of spending 35-40 pounds and having to refit my keyboard every 6 months.

So far I have repasted the cpu and gpu which has reduced temps, and I've undervolted the cpu. I have also put a rubber pad under the keyboard where the W key is positioned. I've also purchased a KLIM cooler and cooling pad, but using them 100% of the time is less than ideal.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PS. This is the GTX 980m/i7 6820hk Model.

 

You've cooled temperatures and insulated the part, there is nothing else to do.

 

It's more to see if there's any idea whether this will stave off the issue or is there anybody who has narrowed down the exact cause of this issue?

 

For anyone who may be suffering from the same issue, I can confirm swapping out the keyboards successfully remedies the situation, I put a section of foil and a credit card sized bit of thermal resistant plastic under the WASD area of the keyboard to protect the new one. I've attached a photo of the old keyboard so you can see the damage.
