I did a quick search to the forums, but the answers were a little scattered and less definitive than I think a person like me would like to see. So with that said I'm curious if its worth it to get the killer for this laptop.
In the AW 17 R4 the killer was reported having massive problems of dropping connections, and i believe poor performance. Is that a result of AW design? or is that the nature of Killer Cards.
I generally am 20-30 feet away from my home router, and when I travel could possibly be more or less than that. My current PC has a qualcomm card, and aside from my usually high ping in any game, the card has been really stable. At my house i currently receive about 80-90 upload and download from my current. There's no specification on the number of the card (like 1535) for instance. Its just a Broadcom wireless card with a Qualcomm controller or something like that.
Would trying out intel be a better idea, or is the Killer 1535 in this laptop a must have?

Believing that killer products will give you better pings is perhaps a sign of good marketing more than anything. Remember the wifi card is only for traffic over wifi and won't do anything for traffic between your router and the rest of the world which is the majority of any latency measurement.
Ping your router to get an idea of whether wifi ping is a problem with your current qualcomm
The 1535's killer suite software caused dropouts for my P870DM until I uninstalled it, I don't notice any better ping vs any of the other wifi's in the house, on either AC or N
Plenty have reported problems with the 1535 dropping out on high load. Personally I'd avoid it, why take the risk.austinL likes this. -
I replaced my Killer 1535 with an Intel 8260 as mine also kept dropping out and disabling the WI-FI on high load

My 1525 is fine, works perfectly IMO.. Just disable advanced stream detect in the software.. Much less dropouts and disconnects compared to my old Intel cards!

The best can often depend on which your router gets on best with.
As for pings the killer can help prioritise games if other traffic is also happening. It does seem to help in that regard.
