Hey could somebody help me out? I've got the Sager NP9150 w/ the Killer N 1103 wireless adapter card, but my internet speeds for wireless are really slow.
I'm over in Calgary, Canada and I pay for 25 down and 2.5 up speeds. My speeds hover around the 15mbps when I'm directly connected through ethernet, but when I'm on wireless the connection drops to 1-3mbps.
I'm not sure what the problem is. Are there any things I should be changing on the Router settings that I could access in my browser?? Perhaps it's an issue with the wireless channel or maybe my router isn't compatible with the killer n 1103? The router is a Cisco DPC3825

Solution? Never buy Atheros. Get an Intel.

from angle view of your problem it seems that your router is conflicting with your wireless card and it seems that you are not getting the n speed of your router but more like a/b type radio connection. you can check you radio frequency type by just hovering your mouse on your ssid in network menu and see it if it correct. Also , I tried too look up your router specs and looks like its a leagcy model nobody sells it which might have problem with card. However, there is also another problem which might contribute to your problem, which are the drivers of killers . They are very bad , a lot of people complaining and having a headache from them including me . The only way get of driver problem is to use original qualcomm drivers which are available luckly and they are stable.
you can try the latest driver from this page :
Atheros & Zidas drivers
your chip is ar9380 , so the drivers are last when your scroll page (ar9xxx). Make sure you choose win7/win8 , they are v 10. up to date I think . Also before intalling qualcomm driver , un-install killer driver, then install them. -

What do you do on Linux that requires a 7970M? Just curious.

. I am computer science major , I lam earning parallel programming on gpu for my courses as well as low level machine language , and thinking contribute to amd open source driver if I can (not for moment) to see how well I can code . For now I am learning on windows for parallel programming ( just beginner) but near future linux is must as it required by my university in advanced parallel programming . my prof love to work with gpus .

You can try going to Device manager and look for the advanced options tab inside your card properties window. There will be a list of possible settings, look if 802.11n is enabled and see which is the value for Prefered Band and Wireless Mode, I have mine set to No Preference and 802.11a/b/g respectively.
I must note that I have an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 and those settings may vary from card to card, but you can figure which other settings are related. -
i got similar problem. my 1103 always get only 17mbps paired with tp-link wdr4300 no matter 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz. my samsung s3 got 4xmbps.

Hey thanks for your post. I just deleted and installed the driver in your link and the internet is working fine but the low speeds are still occuring. I can also confirm that the radio type for my current wireless connection is 802.11n -

Unless I pretty much fully bypassed my router, I had issues getting a good connection with decent speeds. Try the DMZ and see if that fixes your issues, and work down from there. I find router firewalls cause more problems then they are worth.

1. turn off your wireless firewall.
2. turn off Qos if you have that option
3. switch channels for example I would go for 9 because 1,6,11 are used a lot here in north america
4. change frequency width if you have that option. Some have default as 20 MHZ but they option for 40 MHZ . 40 mhz is obviously better because it increases bandwidth data . in some router you can select one of them , both of them. If you have these options play with them .
5. Force radio type 802 N if you have the option in your router . But remember any wifi device have a/b/g will not able to connect to your router
6.Force radio frequency speed to 5 GHz , if you have that option in your router.
Some people here pointed out some options available in device manager you can play with. We killer driver owners don't have these options as intel ones because Qualcomm didn't not include those options in drivers, so you cant do nothing.
Hope it works for ya -
Possible problems:
1. 2.4ghz interference
2. The killer network software set a upper limit on bandwidth, there was a thread where the OP upgraded internet but getting limited speed. He say there is option in the software the query your bandwidth and it throttle from there. -
Don't know how much this really matters, but make sure to run the speed test in the Bigfoot application each time you are on a new network and apply the settings.

Hey man thanks for this! I'm getting speeds of 23 ethernet/16 wireless now. The wireless should be more like 21 so there's still some interference I'm not sure what the issue is.
I have a few more questions if you don't mind.
1) should I be disabling my windows firewall for all of my domain profile, private profile and public profile?
2) In regards to disabling QoS, should I be disabling both WMM and No ACK?
3) The ISP (shaw) doesn't offer routers that support 5ghz radio band. Do you guys think it's worth it to get a Netgear router that could do the trick?
4) My killer network software no longer works now that I've installed the original Qualcomm driver. Is there anything I can do to resolve this or would I need to install the recent drivers - are they that unstable?
5) Buying a new wireless adapter isn't that expensive. Would you guys recommend I just buy a $40 Intel Ultimate-N 6300 off ebay? Do any of these models fit in a Sager NP9150 no problem? -
i found just disable this will do the job for my machine
