Hello,
Okay so my new laptop (one in my sig) has the Hyper X - KHX1600C9S3L/8G which I have a total of 16gb of, but my older laptop also has the Kingston Hyper X memory but it is a different model it is khx1600c9s3p1k2/8g so my question(s) are what exactly are the differences I looked and I didn't really find much also could I install these in my new laptop without having any problems and/or loss of performance? I have 8gb of Samsung memory that came with my old laptop that I could put back into it if I can use this memory in my new laptop because I never use my old laptop so why not if it is compatible use the extra 16gb of khx1600c9s3p1k2/8g and have a total of 32gb? Just mostly wondering what the differences are that require it to be different models? and if it will with incombonation with the memory I already have in my new laptop which is HX1600C9S3L/8G....thanks guys!

You will want to check to see if your older RAM in 1.5v as the newer systems need 1.35L

The spec sheet for your older kingston says 1.5v, khx1600c9s3p1k2/8g:
http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX1600C9S3P1K2_8G.pdf
So not compatible. -
okay so the np9377sm-a doesn't support 1.5v? mmm I thought it supported 1.5 and 1.35? well you guys know more about this stuff than I do so I am sure you are right, so thanks so much for the help.......besides the voltage what is the difference if any? was really looking forward to having 32gb of memory...guess I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up....wish there was a way to return the old ones for a 1.35v ones but I have had them in my old laptop for over a year :/ in hwinfo it says that this newer model KHX1600C9S3L/8G is 1.5/1.35 how is that possible?
Has anyone successfully overclocked these KHX1600C9S3L/8G to say 1866mhz? -
Try it first; used 2x8GB 1.5V on 1.35V W230SS, ran fine. Think of it as undervolting. All banks are tested, those that are stable at 1.35V get the "L" sticker and those that overclock well get HyperX label. Since you have HX (instead of ValueRAM) it'll have some headroom to spare. Don't expect [email protected], that'd be a bit much and it won't do much good anyway. You can test them right now, in fact, if your bios permits undervolting DDR. Try something like 1.375V first; system has a bit of leeway.

you mean just install them? and then what do I need to do? I don't know how do undervolt them...to 1.375...is there an option in the bios to do this? I have factory bios, I am not gonna get perma until my warranty is up...
-
Yes, just install and nothing else; system can't output much more then ~1.375V, so they'll either run or they won't (automatic undervolt, really). No harm can come of that, just make sure to run Memtest86+ when you've installed them. Don't want to think they're ok and then have bsods when they're pushed to stress levels.

Okay cool thanks now I just gotta find the easiest way to get under the keyboard to install them lol

It wont damange anything if you install them and they do not work, then you can buy new ones.
-
okay thanks everyone for all your help, I will be trying to install them tomorrow, I was also wondering someone menchioned that I could OC the ram to 1866mhz I know I probably won't see much benifit from it but I would like to learn how I can do that if anyone can help me that would be great thanks again!
