No one jumps in and says "Dude just get a Mac book Pro, IT HAS RETINA!!!" when ever someone looks for advice on a laptop like happens everywhere out in the real world where people are clueless.

Sorry if this is off topic for anything, just happy about this fact that I havent come across the comment in my quest for knowledge.

That's what the Apple/Mac forum is for. There are plenty of hardcore Apple fanboys on this forum, just great NBR has a forum for nearly every brand and type of notebook, gaming, high performance, ultra, and fashion (Apple).

But this is a forum for Clevo/Sager and high performance laptops, not Apple bashing :D As much as I love bashing Apple, Apple bashing threads will just be closed. And there is an offtopic forum, though that will just turn into a flame war.

Have fun, and good luck finding the notebook you want.

Tbh Mac book pro is a pretty nice laptop, only thing I hate about it is the price tag :)

I have Retina on my iPhone and my iPad and my iPod Touch and my MacBook Pro. I don't have it on my Sager. Going to return my Sager because they won't send me a retina display.

To be fair I would love to be able to get to get a PC laptop with 2560 resolution. They will come in time, it will just take a while for manufacturing to ramp up.

BTW this thread wasnt meant to be a anti apple product thread. They make fine products for the folks they are meant for. This was more a comment about the apple fanbois who think "get an apple" is the answer for any need, even though the products do not address quite a few needs, such as what the clevo fills.

It's funny but that's about 90% of the advice you are going to get from "normal people" out there

There other 10% seems to be undecided between a Vaio or just getting an iPad

That cooling design looks pretty awesome, if the GPU heatpipes lead to 2 fans in a Clevo I wonder how the laptop would look like :D

    Dude, just buy a Clevo!

Wow. A $2500 laptop that is neither upgradeable nor user accessible. Something breaks, buy another one I guess. At least they offer respectable specs: i7-3720QM, GT 650m with GDDR5, 256-512GB Samsung SSD, 8-16GB DDR3.

Sure the new MBP is nice for people who wouldn't know what to do if an internal component failed anyway. But not being able to switch cheap HDD and small RAM for SSD and lots of RAM sucks though, since 99% of laptops let you do that just fine.

Let me know when any mobile Apple product can do stereoscopic 3D played from a bluray disc, or when they start offering current top-of-the-line graphics hardware. Until then I'll stick with Clevo.

I just visited an old family friend and the guys in town sold her a macbook pro.
She's is in her 60s and wanted to take classes to learn how to use it, but everyone in town only offered windows classes.
Every day she was lile: "I wish I would have bought a Windows, this Apple thing doesn't work"...
Cost me a whole day of my holiday to give her a small rundown...LOL :)

How would Apple make a profit if they started selling top of the line stuff? They already barely make it by as it is selling 3 year old technology for 5 times the price.

Hell they are so stooped for cash they made a special mini port for the new MBP so that you have to buy mini SSD drives directly from them!

Not to mention their labor costs. They pay out so much money to craft their perfect chassis.

The poor company is just STARVING for cash.

    /end Sarcasm

MBP's have looks going for them, I won't deny that, but how in the world can you sell something that cannot be fixed other than buying a new one?

For the sub $1000 ultra slim notebooks I can see making them more or less not user upgradable. They're meant to be basic use laptops with some power functionality, but for the most part it is what it is. But for a $2500 laptop, it's absurd. I agree they do have nice looking laptops but they are afraid to ever add an extra 1/4" thickness just to add some user upgradability and improved cooling. Like if they make it thicker they won't sell any laptops.

I don't think that's the only reason why they aren't making them user upgradable. I'm sure they prefer someone buying a brand new laptop over them just changing out RAM sticks or something.

Not only that, but they scam REAL innovators and creators of new hardware. They just stuff everything inside a stylish shell and talk like they made everything, including the hardware.

    I can`t stand Apple

Bleh, spend a couple months around a college town where everyone has these Macbooks and they won't seem so stylish anymore.

Still, when we talk about user-upgradeability and self-repairs, I don't think we're eyeing the same demographics Apple is eyeing.

Yeah but RAM and HDD? Come on now. It's pretty straight forward. Anyone who can turn a screwdriver can do it. Heck in many cases you don't even have to turn a screwdriver.
