Kobalt release the all new Comanche with Intel Core i7.
It has been highly anticipated and is now available to pre-order and will start shipping from mid May.

The new model is quite similar to the old one externally but internally it has a complete refit. It is the first Intel Core i7 desktop replacement, bringing immense power to a mobile platform.

The main features of the new chassis are:

    - CPU support for Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz, 940 2.93GHz and 965 3.2GHz
    - NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 280M dedicated graphics card featuring 1GB of GDDR3
    - Up to 8GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM
    - 3 x HDD slots for up to 1.5TB storage or 750GB of SSD storage with full RAID options
    - Future Quadro FX3700M options
    - HDMI and eSATA ports

These new features make the new Comanche the only choice for a mobile workstation and is the fastest single card gaming laptop available anywhere. You will also find the price unbeatable!

"the fastest single card gaming laptop available anywhere." They should have made it SLI avaliable...why be the fastest single card laptop, when you can be "The fastest gaming laptop"...

the d900f is a joke. the less expensive d900c with sli will slaughter it in games.

25% of the internal space of the d900f is wasted since it cannot sli. by not having dual optical drives it can hardly be called a workstation system. it's kind of pointless to even continue with the d900 series now. i7 is still 4 physical processors. it has only added hyperthreading, something that was available back in the P4 days. how many times do you even run on all 4 cores all the time, besides rendering a video?...never!

the way i see it, you should get the 9262 9800m gtx sli while you still can. 280m gtx is only 10% faster than 9800m gtx.

Which will probably only be for another week or so. They were completely sold out of the 9800m gtx's last week, and they finally got another shipment in at the end of it. I had a sale's rep contact me as soon as they got them in and placed my order... just waiting for it to get here now.

Unfortunately we're most likely at the end of the road for upgrades for the D901C, with MXM 3.0b being the new standard it is almost certain that when the Nvidia GT200 card releases in Q4 it will not be an upgrade path for the D901C. Even one of these GT200 GPU's will rival and most likely surpass the performance of two 9800M GTX's in SLI, so for future investment and upgrade ability the D900F is the way to go untill they "hopefully" release an SLI D901F version *Crosses fingers*.

but the d900c has mxm 4 so it will be compatible. plus, the d900f uses the same chasis so the cards should be hot-swappable.

MXM 4 is not MXM 3.0b they are different architectures, a 9800M GTX wont fit into an MXM 3.0b slot and an MXM 3.0b card wont fit into an MXM 4 slot. I highly doubt Clevo will put out an MXM 4 version of the GT200, even if they did it would most likely suffer some performance loss and hinder Clevo's sales of newer models... So don't hold your breath for it.

since when did MXM IV transmutate itself into MXM II

    this is so confusing lol.

i come back to this board after a few months off and the technical information i recieved from here changed all of a sudden. first it was that 8800m gtx uses 65w when it was supposedly using 35w and now mxm 4 became mxm 2.....

Just going a bit off topic and recommending anyone thinking of buying a Clevo (be it a D901C or D900F) to buy from Kobalt! They have an exellent and very friendly customer service; I only have posetive impressions from my Kobalt Comanche SLI (D901C) purchase!

We don't know yet, that will all depend on if Clevo decides to add support for the 280M to the D901C which they haven't "yet".

Well ... if you're buying a Clevo from Europe, i would still look somewhere else than Kobalt ... even if they have excellent customer service. In my opinion Kobalt is a bit too over-prized and it seems that GBP has strenghtened again so its not that cheap as it was awhile ago compared to Euro.
So that said I would look Clevos or others from some german resellers, you can easily get 200+ euros prize difference compared for example Kobalt.
Even those german prizes can't beat USA prizes (not even close), so if you have a chance to buy from States ... GO FOR IT ;)

totally understand where your coming from when you mention the price fluctuation. but, imo when you are buying a £1700+ computer you have to take into account all the pros and cons ie, uk company that speaks fluent english and the people you speak to on the phone for tech support are the people that actually built your laptop.(very bad experience with alienware support will prove this). warranty policy for repair returns covers courier service from and too your home. i think germany and certainly america you have to pay the insurance and carriage and it takes 3-5 days longer if not more to receive your system back.
once you add up these things i think you will find imo kobalt may not be the cheapest but they are certainly one of the best.

I have always found Kobalt to have the most competitive prices in the UK and will be buying another M860TU (new mobo revision) from them when I can sell my old one.

Is the i7 Commanche one of the must sees at the Gadget Show?

For one, it's not exactly an American product. It's possible anyone could have been selling it first. I guess Kobalt just have the friendliest reps. ;)

You get enough before us anyway, is one laptop really going to hurt :p

And if the gadget show was the first place they could display the laptop at that maybe why, want to show it off at the earliest opportunity and there wasn't a possibility to do that in the US before the UK?

LOL ;) You may be right! Kobalt may have the friendliest reps. But, wait a minute! From what I see in these forums that wouldn't work for Eurocomm having the first pre-order of the M980NU, would it! Oh well..... Life goes on...

    swings and roundabouts.
it doesnt really matter who is first to take pre orders, its if they will be supplied with the first batch.
we will just have to wait and see.

Some ppl who had made there research and are in these forums for quite long time have seen lot of bads and good experiences from clients regarding Eurocom(like promises broken etc etc) atm i have not seen anyth bad written about Kobalt and since i was a client of Kobalt as well(bought the beast in my sig and one more for a friend) i can assure that the support i received and receiving about these products, quality wise were excellent.

In my opinion if theres any prize premium for this was damn worth it because sth which sometimes consumers dont give big value is the support and reliability of the company provide you after the sale,Kobalt untill now has proved that this is what it cares about ...

When a company acting proffesional and the consumers are happy must be said.

    just a quick update.
the D900F basicly looks the same except for esata and hdmi and the inside has one 280m graphics card.
