Pretty, wish I could have one.

Have to say I am not really a fan of all the lights, gets a bit distracting and I think the money could go towards better quality.

some sound card, creative as competition ;)

it turned up quite late in the day and with all the hype and cameras including gayle ported from the gadget show having a look they didnt have chance to load any benchmark programs.

i wont be there tomorrow or sunday so will also be looking forward to the scores.
im first on the list to order one :)

just looking at the pics shows that Clevo is making this their flagship high-end gaming notebook with the design and lights. :)

But the gloss is going to be a fingerprint magnet... as well as prone to palm stains by those that do not type or game properly.

I will have to recommend getting an invisibleSHIELD covering on this kind of system to prevent those stains and fingerprints.

For a company that seems to really know how to put the hardware that enthusiasts want into a notebook Clevo really has no clue how to build a keyboard.

They made the change to chiclet keys and now have an 18.4" chassis to work with so why the same craptastic numpad arrangement? I guess those eight tiny buttons on the left side of the keyboard really need all that space between them....

Clevo does NOT make or design the keyboards... as well as other notebooks that you know.

    the top keyboard manufacturers are:
    - Chicony
    - OKI

Clevo seems to be using a MacBook-type keyboard.... not sure of ODM.

here is a pic of the MacBook keyboard

Yeah it's a chiclet keyboard lot's of companies use em, Mac, Sony, ASUS uses 'em in one of their netbooks....they're great no complaint there.

Numpad arrangement sucks though and even if they didn't build it Clevo chose it over the standard numpad config that could have easily fit.

I always thought that Clevo was going to stick with the iconic Chicony keyboards that have been on their high-end systems for the last 4-5 years. :)

Guess they are trying something new.

-.-' another laptop from clevo without a full sized number pad...my 15.4 laptop even has that. Whats with the keyboard layout why is it off to the side like that couldn't they use a express card slot remote like everyone else?

Yeah, that is one thing that worries me and makes me look at the D900F (or even W90Vp), is the massive shift to the right of the keyboard. One of the few pet peeves I had with the HDX Dragon.

I agree, I like the chicklet buttons they decided to go with but I just Hate that they shifted the keyboard off to the right like that. And do those programmable buttons really need to look that ugly and take up that much space??, bad move on Clevo's part it really detracts from the look of the laptop and makes it look tacky and cheap.

Sorry about the mistakes on the spec, we didn't recieve the laptop until the show had actually started.

With Q9100 and a single GTX 280M it scores 12.k in 3DMark06 so SLI will be very very fast. I actually really like the keyboard, the chassis is pretty wide so you don't notice that it's offset at all and the numeric pad is relly usefull.

It'sgone down really wel at the show, most people have seen the lit logo on reverse side of the screen and the first thing they do it use the touch sensitive volume control!

very ugly laptop. so large and yet not a full size keyboard. what about backlit keyboard at least?

clevo is chasing the alienware styled m17x and m15x laptop designs with this one.

Yeah changed my mind...I've found out there are no backlit keyboard options available "yet" for the pre-orders and two days later and the computer itself is starting to look uglier and uglier by the day...Oh well Q4 should bring out all sorts of fancy laptops with the new platforms coming out, and hopefully they will be 17' not 18.4!

backlit keyboards are more for showing off... and for those that still do not know how to touch type... without looking down at the keyboard.

Actually, I do know how to touch type, and I would still like to have a back-lit keyboard because sitting in a totally dark room with a bright lcd in front of me throws off the peripheral vision that touch typing depends on - a backlit keyboard would restore the reference points that peripheral vision depends on.

I can touch type fine but it seems my roomates require alot more sleep then I ever need so they ask I turn off the lights at a certain time which has me doing most of homework in darkness..I've found I'm FAR less prone to typing error when I have a backlit keyboard as I noticed when I transitioned from my VAIO to my M17. In some lecture halls where they ask you to tone down the brightness of your screen as a courtesy to others backlit keyboards come in handy, it's really not to much to ask out of a system that offers just about everything else. I mean for me, I am using most of my laptop time in darkness and the backlit keyboard makes life and typing ALOT easier, but I understand most here do not use laptops in complete or near darkness.

anyway watching a screen in the dark is bad because half your eyes try to focus on dark and the other half try to focus on light or something like that and I've always been told it's bad so don't do it :p

buy eyemasks for your roommates :)

    I do like this laptop
however I am not completely sold on the necessity of SLI
so the core i7 machine is attracting me more

but I am with so many others on the numpad layout, its pants for adding up rapidly what with plus and minus etc all being in the wrong place, so I end up plugging in a keyboard...., other notebooks even MSI's diddy 15" ones manage to have a proper numpad so yeah...sort it out clevo!

I really do not care for a second card.... probably since ANY high-end card now is better than what I have.

No, I'm referring to the 16:9 aspect ratio as opposed to the 16:10 aspect ratio (ie: 1920x1080 vs 1920x1200).

It means laptop screens will be of lower vertical resolution.

Would be nice if they offered a 17 inch version of the same chassis, as they kinda do for the Asus W90, though I doubt no one would bother to do a swap mod.

I got lucky and got pretty much the last NP9262 sager was offering (still waiting for it to arrive). There's really nothing that's an upgrade that's going to be coming out for awhile as far as 17" go... 18.4 is too big, even for me, and I'm used to rucking 100+ lbs of gear.

Clevo will get the message, best way to send it to em is to not buy it. As much as I wanted an SLI capable system it will have to wait as there is no way I will buy a laptop bigger than a 17" and I also despise the 16:9 aspect ratio that is being forced down our throats lately by almost all manufacturers.

    16:10 up - M98NU down.

why would you get this instead of a desktop? it looks about as cumbersome to carry around and im sure its exponentially more expensive.
