    Hello

I orderd a W860CU about 2 months ago now from kobalt computers, it was fairly standard with i7 720m, gtx285m, 4gb ram etc. Payment went fine and had they estimated about 10-15 days delivery. After 1 month I´d still heard nothing from them, after an unawenserd email i posted on the forum and got informed that my notebook was delayed, because of the chines new year and some driver issuse. After that they´ve keep telling me "your notebook will ship first thing next week" but it has now been delayed about 4 times that way :( Finnaly last week i was told it had shiped! But the scheduled delivery day came and no sight of the notebook. I mailed and asked what was going on again, they said it was a misstake and it would ship tomorrow(at this point am really feed up) This time i got a tracking number that did´t work, in a few hours the delivery scheduled will be missed again. So i just called TNT(the transport company they are using) and they had no idea about any deliverys to my adress or name.

So are Kobalt computers a legit company?

Well, they are a legit company, don't know why the delay though. Probably because of the 285M issue as it was on back order some time ago, as well as probably some miscommunication mistakes.

    you have not been scammed.
kobalt are a very small family run company and as the order numbers grow sadly the delivery times will get longer. but trust me its worth the wait.

where are you calling from,is it europe or are you in the uk?
there has been quite a few delays which were totally out of kobalts hands.
if you havnt already then join the kobalt forum in sig below as there is a new thread for new orders.
if you can try ringing now as they are closed tomorrow and monday for the easter holidays.
hope it gets sorted for you soon.

ps. the tracking number not working is a tnt fault.
for some reason they re use the same numbers more than once. after you got the tracking number it can take a few hours to get onto their system. if they are saying they know nothing about a delivery to your address then that is a tnt fault as they supply kobalt with the shipping number then kobalt forward it onto you.
if you say youve still got a few hours to go then keep us updated.

    silverized,

Sorry to hear about the delivery problems. If you haven't already done so e-mail sales with your order number or post a comment on your order tracking and we'll look into it and get back to you.

We've had a few issues recently which sounds like they were explained to you (since you've mentioned them) but you'll find plenty of Kobalt owners here so please rest assured there are no issues with our company.

If you like PM me here as well I can ensure it's looked into.

    Brgds
    Neil

Thanks for respones Neil but I´ll just sit back and wait, nothing is gonna happen during easter anyway. I was just in need to be asured about your company. I guess you can appreciate my situation as a low buget student :) As long as I have the notebook next week before uni starts again it should be fine

Well I know that they have had problems with the 285m cards latley, but i placed this order in the begining of feburary. And on their forums there are some people who state they´ve received thier G860s that were orderd in early march. Also the fact that I´ve been told 2 times that the machine have shiped but TNT seems to know nothing about it.

If you are not happy with the service you received I can only recommend canceling your order and ordering from somewhere else. It's the most efficient way to push resellers to improve. Believe me most German resellers can deliver you your Clevo within 5-8 working days without broken promises.

believe me if i bought a laptop from a company and they said it would be ready in 5-8 days i would cancel the order.
each laptop is built to order and i would rather it take a month than a week. 5-8 days is a rush job and when im spending that sort of money i dont want it built on a production line and shipped out before it goes through its rigourous testing.
this latest relapse looks like its totally to do with tnt.

good luck and hopefully you will receive it next week.

    >.> the barebones are p rebuilt from clevo though, not like kobalt is pouring the plastic in the mold. I would cancel my order if it took more then 5-8 days, thats more than enough time to build it and do a burn in test. Considering he's waited over a month now, canceling would be a appropriate response. The were sorry our email has been down response is kind of becoming a recurring complaint on this section now for kobalt, it would seem like it would be a good idea to avoid purchasing from them till they get it fixed.

Hi, if you’ve been told by sales that it shipped and had a tracking number then it would definitely have gone out. Also if you told sales that it wasn’t showing up on the TNT tracking and you haven’t taken delivery yet then I’m sure sales would have looked into it for you. They wouldn’t have been able to get any information today as it is a bank holiday and both we and TNT were closed, as unfortunately they will be on Monday.

I’m sure we will be able to get it sorted out as soon as possible for you next week. When shipping the number of orders we do every day then unfortunately every now and again these issues do occur.

Like a lot of companies over here our standard delivery time is 7-10 working days. Unfortunately in silverized case it has taken longer than that due to a couple of issues which he has been advised of. It is obviously the customers option to cancel an order if they wish but cancelling after 5-8 days is a little premature. We aren’t saying that it takes 7-10 working days to physically build and test a laptop, that’s the estimated time from order to delivery.

Also there hasn’t been anyone complaining about us not responding to emails because they have been down on this thread. We did have a problem with our server a couple of days ago but that was resolved Wednesday evening so all communication problems work fine, there’s no need to scaremonger people.

the problem is that people forget about the size of companies like Kobalt, they are not companies the size of Sager and they do not have hundreds of chassis in stock.

If you order an AW in the uk you can expect AT LEAST a month delivery from my experience of buying from them.

To buy a high end laptop, effectivley bleeding edge in the uk it takes a couple of weeks minimum

If people want a machine double quick order an off the shelf unit from ebuyer or wherever but it will not be a custom build and will not be the quality of a clevo unit

i ordered a deviltech few years ago , 6 weeks went before delivery on an "in stock" machine, then it arrived broken i sent it back and eventually got my cash back...eventually

sorry Rorschach, i know you are from the US where exotic (have dealt with them in the past thumbs up to those guys, Justin wherever you are...) where they can get units shipped in a matter of hours

Just doesnt work that way over here...

Every company has problems with systems, some they can be blamed for, some they cant. In Kobalts case the exchange server crashed and had to be recovered proffessionally, not something many places can do in house.

Its not scaremongering to advise people not to make a purchase from a reseller that is having email issues and I only advised against it till the issue is fixed which you are now claiming it is. I went by this thread that was recently updated after not getting a response and the email problem was posted.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=467276. Seeing as how your not involved with the sales I suppose it would just be better if people called and spoke to someone involved in their actual purchase.

Yep, i made same mistake. I ordered notebook from Kobalt, they cleared transaction in 3-4 days. After money gone. I was waiting more then 2 weeks for promised ETA. Actually it was so big surprise that i should wait so long. I got my notebook before from Japan in 3 weeks just because of custom.
They need to build it? I am building servers 10 in one hour with OS install. Processor, memory, disks, loading disk image.

Ok, then ETA finished i seen on Forum that Kobalt actually was on hold because already more then a month GeForce 285M had driver problem.

Actually i was thinking to buy Alien Ware from Dell, but they had only 260M that time, now i know why. Because of drivers. But to take money for Kobalt is no problem.

I was lucky just after ETA to get good news that now driver problem solved, but bad news that Kobalt will be busy to send delayed orders.

Cool, i got excuses and new ETA +10days. No problem i can understand.

Then was only delayed promises. Last after 3rd ETA expired was perfect: "I can assure you we did not run off with your money. We are still here. Your laptop is shipping tomorrow, so will be with you sometime on Thursday, probably not till the afternoon though, so if you do not get it in the morning then it will arrive in the afternoon." It was 3 days ago, and gusess what? No news, on thursday i was only able to speek with answering machine. It is already 1 month gone.

Reason why i bought from Kobalt: because i beleave it will be faster to get support from supplier in same country. But i was wrong.

I don't think they have my computer ready even now, will try get money back and order from another Clevo reseller. Guess it will be faster.

Yep. Me too in this case. If something broken, imagine how long it will take to carefully "buid" a spare part?

    Hi mangust

Andrew replied to your question on the Order Query part of our forum yesterday and I just replied to you 5 minutes after you asked another question. Both these replies explain your status in detail including that it has already shipped to you.

Since the original poster is taking up their issues in private with Kobalt, I'm going to close this thread.

mangust2, please do the same; thanks.
