Hello, I got a Sager M570tu model, and about 2 weeks ago the backligh for the lcd didn't seem to work.

It would only not work during video games, and only for the first 5-10 mins.
Unplugging it would half the time make the screen come back on, then plugging it back in would turn it off
I tried updating the video card drivers, and make a new user to no avail

I then thought it might be the bios, so I did a reset back to defaults.
After doing so, the Backlight for the LCD no longer works at any point.

So i updated the Ecg(whatever) & bios. = same thing

I know it the backlight because when I hold up my flash light to it I can see.

Im out of ideas, I need this running ASAP because I got 2 final projects that im rushing to complete

Replace the screen or the backlight, there really isn't any other solution.

    it started working again...kinda

now its back to the original problem of, when ever I play a game, the backlight for the lcd shuts down
when using regular applications, even graphic intensive ones, the backlight for the lcd works fine

    any thoughts?

Actually that sounds like it could be something else.

I think you should have a function key for your LCD, maybe f2 (although you still have to hold fn)

There are also other options, Paralel.. :p
You can test the backlight with a different laptops inverter.

True, it could be the inverter.

It really sounds like BIOS or even VBIOS problem, there is some kind of hardware display mode thing that happens when starting games, like changing resolution but not.
I though that when there is a backlight or inverter problem, then the screen usually flickers or behaves more strangely than that especially when changing the brightness.

It almost sounds like a problem I had with a 24" LCD monitor I had awhile, almost...

When turning the monitor on for the first time for the day, it would take it about 10 minutes to warm up, and once it hit a certain temperature, it would go dark. I would then have to turn it off and on 2 - 3 times to get it to stay on. Once on again, it would stay on for good until you turn it off for the day and it cools down past a certain point. Then you would have to repeat the warm up procedure, a pain it was.

From your discription though it sounds like you are experiencing a completely different sort of problem. I just thought I would share.

I take it you do not experience any problems with an external display? If not, then I have to side with Paralel and say inverter is going out. I have never heard of bios/vbios/drivers causing problems like you are experiencing.

Likely, when a game starts and the GPU starts pulling more power, the inverter is getting less. Since it is getting older and not as efficient as it used to be, the LCD screen does not get the power it needs.....eh, just a wild theory....

Hello me again, Issue has started back up again... only while playing a game... when the back light goes out. Unplugging the computer and replugging fixes it kinda, this its my power supply cord or something in the unit itself?
