I've had my 5793 since about March and today I was looking at the screen and I noticed a bit of faint red splochiness in the mid right side about 3 inches long which is mostly noticeable against a black background.

Anyone had this type of problem? Is it RMA time?

    Thank you for the input.

    got a pic?

It might be a loose LCD cable... or could be a rare case of a damaged/faulty cable.

Ill post a picture tommorow. Its very faint and is mostly noticible on a black screen, and when gaming.

its a small and verticle and faintly noticible, ill see if it comes out allright in a picture.

Have you tried hooking the system up to a secondary display, just to be sure it only appears on the laptop LCD? Do you see the line from the moment the computer comes on all the way into the OS? It'll be a help in supporting the issue if we can rule out the video card and determine it is for sure a hardware fault with the LCD.

    Ill call tommorow,

I have not hooked it up to a second display yet, will do so when I get into my office in the morning.

I see the splotchy line and one dollop underneath that one
as soon as the computer comes on all the way into the os.

Did you double-check in the configuration to make sure that it's set to send a signal out to the external monitor?

If it is, then it sounds like you may have a failing GPU on your hands.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification. I thought you meant that no picture was showing up on the external monitor. In that case, I retract my last prognostication, and would agree with you that there is something wrong with either the LCD itself, the ribbon cable attached to it, or possibly the inverter. At any rate, it's time for an RMA if you're still within warranty.
