I ordered my 9261 from PowerNotebooks with the WUXGA screen. I tested it with a dead pixel finder and the screen had zero dead/stuck pixels! The brightness is great and viewing angles are sufficient. All in all, it is a beautiful LCD panel.

It is not just the LCD quality that is the most important... its the warranty and satisfaction guarantee that matters.

    Example:
    - If you purchase from Sager (or their resellers, XoticPC, PowerNotebooks, etc..), you automatically have a 30-day full satisfaction guarantee to cover everything... if you have ANY dis-satisfactions (like a dead pixel) you can just return it or exchange it for a new unit.

TBH any of the Sager resellers are probably all getting the same screens choices. Their could very well be a difference between Eurocom and Sager but I'm not sure Clevo doesn't set that as well.

Unfortunately a lot of laptop manufactures (including Dell, Alienware, etc) buy batches of screens from multiple vendors, and chances are one of the types is going to be less desirable. Just look at the Dell section on this message board especially the XPS 1730 thread they have 3 different screen types.

My friend and I ordered laptops about 5 hours apart. He got a LG screen (which is really nice) and I got some unknown/generic type (which isn't nice). We ordered from the same reseller.

there is some backlight bleeding on my NP2090, only noticeable when background is dark, mostly on the bottom middle section but nothing serious.

sager only allows you to do this once and the replacement unit may have a dead pixel as well. this is what happened to me back in 2005. my 9860 died. i requested a replacement and was specifically told that if i do a replacement instead of repair i would not be allowed to do another one. both units came with at least 1 dead pixel.

Well I haven't checked for dead pixels with anything but my eyes, and what I don't see can't hurt me in this case... I do have to say that the light bleed at the bottom of the screen was the first thing I noticed when I turned it on, but after the black screen during the boot I can't notice anything. To me this seems like a really solid laptop overall, but the screen is the least impressive thing about it. I really wish that when I returned my Vaio AR570 I could've kept the screen to slap on this thing, and it really pains me to say that after having to deal with them over a return that made me never want to purchase anything sony ever again.

Now its different. I have had some people contact me with there dislikes... and they had no issues with a full refund (if they did not activate any Microsoft software)... or getting a new replacement unit.

The only thing they might have to pay was the shipping going back.

Does anyone know whether Eurocom uses the same LCD manufacturers as Sager or Sager resellers?

Everyone uses the same LCDs. The Sager resellers in the US have nothing to do with the LCDs Sager install in the laptops. It's been known that most of the time the laptop comes from Sager directly.

I just invoked Sager's 30 day guarantee for a hot pixel. Purchased the 9262 laptop from Xotic PC. It arrived with 1 hot/bright pixel that would never shut off. I tried some of the remedies for a week or two with no success. Xotic PC provided me the RMA and I shipped it off to Sager a few days ago. It was the first time in my 8 years of laptop usage that I have ever seen a stuck pixel and it had to happen on the best of the best (and most expensive). I went ahead and ordered another 9262 from XoticPC and I certainly hope the next one is perfect. Otherwise I'll have to reconsider destops/other vendors/etc...

I noticed the LCD is very Clean and uniform that I got from EUROCOM.
but the brightness isn't there how I would like.

my XPS m1710 had a beautiful screen a LG lpl000 or whatever.

but it was about 25% more brighter.

If I have lights on its not that bright even in the dark. it's bright. but not WOW blinding eyes bright.

just lit enought to see it well of course.

As my ol' pappy useta say, "don' look a gift horse inna mout, boy!" If you're happy, why go looking for something that'll make you unhappy? :D

(Yeah, I know that that's not a good rule to apply to everything in life, but it's a perfectly good rule here).

If you have a glossy 1680x1050 screen you probably have a previous generation lcd.. W02 instead of WE2.. which is what i have and yea it is pretty damn dim. Been wasting time and money trying to get a dual lamp inverter to work in the 9262 no luck so far. Connectors are never the same.

Any chance of having the poll results aggregated so that, in addition to getting separate data on xotic, eurocom, and the rest of the universe (not really representative, is it? ), we can get an overall sense of the rate of LCD issues.

Primarily, an aggregate would tend to be more accurate than the per-reseller results because, to date, the sample size is woefully inadequate, and on a per-reseller basis is probably so inadequate as to be misleading - I rather doubt that Eurocom, whatever else it's failings might be, has more issues-LCDs than non-issues-LCDs.

As I read the numbers so far, on an aggregate basis, there are 29 votes, with 20 showing no issues and 9 showing some issues. The respective percentages are:

    No Issues - 68.97% (69% rounded up)

    Some Issues - 31.03% (31% rounded down)

Again, keeping in mind that these numbers are really meaningless in any relevant sense since the sample size is too small, it looks like just under 1/3 of all delivered systems have at least some issues with the LCD.

Does anyone know how that compares to industry norms?
