Hello, I got a Sager M570tu model, and about 2 weeks ago the backligh for the lcd didn't seem to work.

It would only not work during video games, and only for the first 5-10 mins.
Unplugging it would half the time make the screen come back on, then plugging it back in would turn it off
I tried updating the video card drivers, and make a new user to no avail

I then thought it might be the bios, so I did a reset back to defaults.
After doing so, the Backlight for the LCD no longer works at any point.

So i updated the Ecg(whatever) & bios. = same thing
    I've reinstalled windows
I've now replaced the inverter and the LCD
I used the LCD for two days, then 5 minutes into opening a 3d game (starcraft) the lcd backlight went out and is no longer turning back on.

I really am out of ideas?

Are you sure you graphics card isn't dying? You should run games on an external monitor. Make sure your graphics card is OK.

Otherwise it sounds like you have some power issues or something, maybe your BIOS is totally stuck in the LCD off mode.
I have some ideas for you :D it shouldnt be to hard to bypass this problem.

What you can do is cut the wires that control dimming on your inverter. I believe the top probably red wire is the + voltage, the ground could be anything (meaning you might as well cut it because you can screw it down to a copper hole) You will have to do this experimentally, and it may not help, so it doesn't matter too much considering the next step.

Cut off the line to your inverter entirely, figure out the + voltage and ground like above. Then wire it directly to your 20v laptop power.
I'm almost completely certain this is the power its supposed to be getting anyway.

I know for a fact that the video card works fine. Shining a flash light into the screen, i can see it all.

Also external monitor works perfectly. Ill try playing the wires.

on a side note. After updating the bios, is when it wouldn't turn on at all. before the update it would turn off and on during 3d games
