Anybody have any suggestions on improving the sound? I've heard something along the lines of switching from stereo to surround in the THX menu, but I can't find that option. Does anybody have any external audio accessories they recommend? I'd prefer something that's easy to move around and could be carried in my laptop case.

Asus Xonar U3 for headphones. Cheap and small device that greatly improves the headphone sounds.

I'll make sure to use those settings with my headset on. Are there certain settings to make the internal speakers sound better?

Also, will the Asus attachment work just as well/better with my Turtle Beach X12 headset as the Turtle Beach surround attachment would? I'd save a lot of money if I got the Asus attachment instead of the Turtle Beach one.

Just use the same settings, doesn't matter whether you have headphones in or not. Technically, it would be better to change the setting to external speakers to get a louder sound stage, but I have no issue with the headphone one to make it worth it to change the setting when I plug and unplug my headphones.

I have that and was using it with the G73JW, but the on board sound card in P150EM pretty much does the same thing, also sound quality is just similar on headphone mode, and there's no bass boost for the Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro USB if you are using it with 2.0 headphones, can only be enabled when you are on analog 5.1 headphones or 5.1 external speakers.

It doesn't work with internal speakers by the way.

+1. Use one with my ATH-M50's and it's great.

Is there anything that helps internal speakers? If not then I'll get the Asus thing you guys recommended.

Not that I could find, however the Asus external card will also work with external speakers.

The only way is to do it through software like Breakaway Audio Enhancer or SRS Audio Essentials.

thanks for the quick respond ,so what you are saying is that if I use lets say ASUS Xonar U3 without using headphones with it there will be no improvement in the sound, forgive my stupidity I am really new at these stuff ( avoiding the "noob" expression ,but obviously not stupid ;)).

These software probably do the same as what the realtek driver in combination with the THX software does. Although 3rd party solutions probably do a much better job. But I'll be surprised if any amount software DSPs solutions out there can compensate for bad analog outputs. (for those who have issues with the audio at least)

The Xonar U3 only helps with the output to headphone/external speakers.

Yes, It makes quite a big difference on the internal speakers if you configure it right. I use it if I dont have my headphones & amp with me, they are too big for my backpack.

Yeah I would like to chime in that I went with the FiiO E17 USB DAC to get muuuuuch better sound quality on my headphones. I also use it with my iPhone as well. I've had a lot of experience with the FiiO product line, they make some really great stuff.
