    Good day all,

Was wondering if sound from the laptop speakers are generally okay on the NP9380. I know it probably doesn't hold a candle to the MSI speakers. I am no audiophile but I am quite discerning when listen to music. I also understand that I can get an external USB soundcard that will help it out. But just generally, how is the sound quality overall. Thanks.

no idea on this model but if it has the same set up as last years P150EM then you can get great 5.1 sound out by using the headphone socket for front speakers, the mic in/speaker out for sub and middle speakers and the spdif/speaker out for rear speakers.
doesnt help much for the on board speakers though.

Its tinny, flat and lacks that spacious sound that an average home stereo can give you.
Not to mention bass is down to none (even if the speaker itself produces "something in the range of 50hz", you wouldnt hear it).
Its a laptop, the acoustics are bad, the speakers are incapable of producing crisp and full sound.
Not to mention when you crank it up above 80%, they can start to crack (many people have reported one of their speakers, or both, crack when volume is to max).

Just forget about good sound from a laptop. For voice only, its okay. But something like a symphony orchestra or just electonic music with loads of dynamic is just a PAIN to listen to.
Headphones or some good wooden speakers, hooked to an amplifier. Thats what is meant to give you the best experience.

P.S. In my office, Im using these: 4406009.jpg
    AND THESE SPEAKERS SUCK!^

But they are 100 times better-sounding than the laptop "ONKYO" nonsense that they claim the laptop has inside.
Again, I repeat - ANY external speakers will make a difference for the better. Even those crappy LOGITEC chinese joke are better.
But they are still crap, nonetheless.

At home, I use these: http://et.sikorait.pl/files/gfx/res..._easytouch_et-491_2.1_lagoon-widok_z_boku.jpg
These are VERY CHEAP, but sound really really, REALLY good for their price.
Having an external amplifier, the subwoofer has its entire enclosure for itself and for some reason, it just sounds miles away better than any previous 2.1 or 5.1 system I had.
For the money, these speakers can't be beaten. They were $38 or 27EUR.
