    Hi all!,
I've been looking at two laptops trying to figure out which one to purchase. I've narrowed my search down to these two laptops

    http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/notebooks/product2.cfm?ProductType=2080&SubType=V
That one has better hardware and battery life, but weighs more

    and the other is:
    http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/notebooks/product2.cfm?ProductType=6630&SubType=C
this is where the question comes in...I read a review on this laptop here, http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3078&review=Sager+NP6630

The reviewer claims that the battery life is only 2hrs - 2.5 hrs, and I noticed he tested it with a core duo processor and not a core 2 duo. Would having a core 2 duo add more life to that? And how long could I expect the battery to last? for those of you wondering the specs of the battery are
And what are your experiences with these two laptops? good, bad?

    Thanks for your time.

The core and core 2 chips use very similar amounts of power. The processor should not make a significant difference in battery life.

As vespoli said, you will not see any real differences in battery life between the Core Duo and the Core 2 Duo. Probably a few minutes.

The deciding factor between the NP2080 (which is a rebadged Compal HEL80 - see a review here) and the NP6630 is what you plan to do with the notebook. The NP2080 is a gaming notebook - it has a powerful dedicated graphics card. The NP6630, on the other hand, has integrated Intel graphics, which are no good for any sort of 3D games.

We can give you some nice suggestions if you complete the FAQ in the What Should I Buy forum.

My only concern is the battery life on the 6630, it just seem that with the hardware that it has the battery life should be longer than just a few hours. Thanks for those links :)

If you look at other 15.4" notebooks with similar specifications, they get around the same amount of life (2.5 - 3 hours), but the NP6630 is still on the low side though, you're right about that.
For a 15.4" notebook that gets longer battery life, consider the . . .
-Gateway NX570 (good battery life w/ the extended battery option, low-priced and it has decent quality)
-Fujitsu E8210 (expensive, but excellent quality, good battery, business class)
-Dell Latitude D820 (business class, great quality, worth looking at)

I'll have to take a look at the notebooks you listed, but from what I've been reading its hard to get a 14"-15.4" with a good battery life unless you get a big ol battery sticking out the back. I will have to just continue my search...

I wonder how the new SSD and flash HDDs will improve power consumption.
