Anyone using laptop coolers for their P870 machines? If so which one, if not are you lifting it up with feet for better air flow?

I got this one which I ordered from HIDevolution along with my taptop.

Since your order is in production, please email them to have it included in your order or order it separately, whichever way is easier for you:

@Papusan Please convince the member that this is the best taptop cooler

Cooler master U3 if you want something which works. Search the threads in the forum and you will find same conclusion http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/p870dm3-vs-aw-17-r4.797184/page-5#post-10367086
Or simply use coke bottle caps. Don't spend your money on all of the other ****y notebook coolers. Wasted money
And yeah. Listening on bro @Phoenix :D

strange, I put 1250 then tried 1270 as the value for override in voltage in the BIOS (in order to not solely rely on TS) but now the speeds fluctuate between 1.2 GHz and 4.1 GHz even on high performance

C-states enabled in BIOS along with Speed Shift which were the same when we tested in TS....

This is what I meant when I told you I never had good results with static voltage in the BIOS

I never use speed shift or enable C- states. Power saving isn't my thing. And you don't save much energy or temp. A few degrees down in idle but that's all. Some people have the fully power saving packages(including power saving in Win power plan or other obscure Oem software) and expect raw power. I understand some prefer adaptive voltage, but they should maybe read up a bit about SKYLAKE and power saving. A few guides on the web. And of course no silicon is 100% equal.
You could try with higher multi and see if the clock becomes more stable. You have headroom for this with that voltage.

I simply prop up the back of my system with a wooden keyboard wrist rest that I had stuffed in a drawer several months back.

Another nod to said Coolermaster U3 (plus) pad. I notice more of a difference in idle temps with it than anything, but it helps all the same.

A lot of people will try propping up the back of the computer a small amount, just to help a little with airflow (as saturnotaku mentioned). You might see a little difference by doing that by itself. The U3 seems to be the one cooling pad that is always at the top of the recommendations here.

Definitely. U3 rocks, and it's awesome for modding. I agree with you 100%. If not a U3, simply propping up the back is just as effective, perhaps even more so, than just about any other coolers. Most of them are worthless.

Having owned both, I find the older U3 is a better product than the newer U3 Plus. The older U3 is made more solidly and the design is not as good on the newer version. If you can find the older U3 available for sale it usually costs a little more, but I think it is worth it. Either one is a good product, but I definitely favor the older model. (Seems like that applies to lots of things... unfortunately, newer often frequently mean inferior, especially in regard to build quality.)

Oddly enough, Cooler Master makes not only the best one, also one of the worst ones. I have a Cooler Master NOTEPAL X3 and it is a piece of garbage. It is ineffective and poorly made, so it sits under the anemic Lenovo ThinkPad T430 turdbook that I have to use for work. I put it there to avoid throwing it in the garbage. But, I may end up tearing it apart and using the grille off of it to mod the bottom cover of the P750ZM to help it breathe better. Then I will throw the rest of it in the trash. With the fan running full blast there is close to ZERO air flow discernible from the X3.

I've been rocking a Zalman ZM-NC2000 since '09. It does it's job and fits nicely in the backpack with my notebook.

NZXD Cryo LX almost 10 years now. I was searching new one but didn't find better so I ended up replacing 3 120mm fans and adding dust filters.

Adding a dust filter is a nice touch. I don't think I've really seen that on any cooling pads before.

You can get some magnetic filters which will work with most metal stands if you want to mod your own. :)

Mr. Fox what fans and fan controller are you using? I just received my U3 and thinking of upgrading to something with a bit more power.

    Thanks!

I've done three different U3 mods. All run from AC power with 120MM fans and filters.

I recommend using the EKWB Vardar FF5-120 fans: http://www.performance-pcs.com/ek-f...0rpm-high-performance-liquid-cooling-fan.html
(Thank @Papusan for the recommendation on these... will be replacing the fans on the cooler below with these inititally. If I like them better may buy them for the other one later.)

I've used a couple of different controller setups. I like what I used on my most recent mod the most. That controller is also shown in the above photo.

    Controller:
Kingwin Four Channel Turn Knob Multi-Fan Cooling Controller FPX-001

    AC Adapter:
    Coolerguys 100-240v AC to 12 & 5v DC 4pin Molex 2A Power Adapter

    Filters:
120mm Computer PC Dustproof Cooler Fan Cover Dust Filter Mesh 5pcs
These are not as well made as the original (now discontinued) filters I was using, but they work fine for filters. Would be pretty silly to spend more than a couple of bucks on this.

what holding the fan controller up and is that front plate that gives access to the controller made out of wood? I checked the link where you bought the fans, they dont had red blades

Yes, the front plate is wood painted black with screwed on rubber feet. That helps support the fan controller and I used several narrow strips of heavy duty rubber mounting tape. It is mounted very solidly.

The fans with red blades are Rosewill fans that NewEgg now longer carries. The better quality filters are also Roseville parts that NewEgg no longer carries.

@breaktimeplayer - below are more photos of my three U3 mods. You will find more descriptive information in the albums linked, under each image.

If you want fancy then the corsair maglev fans do awesome work for high pressure applications, expensive though.
