Hello! So, I'm completely unsure of what direction I should go in for a laptop geared towards editing. I made a post ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/what-notebook-should-i-buy/752088-laptop-traveling-photographer-xotic-pc-screen-upgrades.html) and it was suggested that I check out Clevo. I honestly don't know much about specs, what's compatible with what, throttling, and I only recently learned that I should be looking at FirePro or Quadro and that GeForce is useless for what I want. Harumph.
I'm looking for a laptop that is fast, good HD space, won't boil everything beneath it, is not over 7lbs and has a 15-16" screen. Other than that, I'm pretty darn clueless to the specs and what it all means.![]()

I don't think you need to quite go with the Quadro, it'll make minimal differences for what it sounds like you'll be doing. A GTX card actually does get used by Adobe products as of late and would be a bit more of an economical choice sticking with an 860m or 870m, then again the K110m is only $50 more than the 870m and would definitely be nice to have if it fit in your budget as long as you weren't planning on gaming with the machine. Sager would be a good choice due to you travelling as they're pretty durable and reliable. As far as other specs... I'd aim for a minimum of 16gb of RAM and for drive configuration doing a SSD + HDD combo (OS on SSD and HDD for storage) would be good so you don't need to wait long for boot when you find time to work. If you wanted to call in and discuss some options though, I'd be glad to help.

Talking to someone would be great! I keep trying the chat line but it never goes through.
I would like gaming capabilities, but I think really anything should be okay considering I'm completely oblivious to new games and my 6 year old Vaio can mostly play the games I'm interested in. -

Sounds good! All my contact info is in my signature so feel free to call in when you're free.

Wouldn't the quadro be better for long encoding sessions? Optimized for that and higher binned chips. Better for longevity if gaming isn't a priority? But if geforce works with your software and you don't plan on leaving your laptop on overnight a lot encoding stuff then saving a few bucks might be better.
