    Laptop just beat my desktop with a 6970 in it.

    Desktop is has a 2500k overclocked to 4.4ghz
    Both GFX cards are stock clocks

    Yep. The 7970M is one of the fastest available single-core GPUs when matched with Ivy Bridge:

    Like I said, the number is higher than the desktop HD 7870 most likely because almost every 7970M at this point is matched with the Ivy Bridge line, while you can take a test with the HD 7870 with any crappy processor you want, clouding the posted average score. Still a huge number though.

    With new drivers the potential for game performance is exciting.

    I'm confused... how is this possible... o_O Are you running one at 2560x1600 vs 1080p?

    the 6970 should be much more powerful no?

    Although I guess the 7970 might just be much more optimized for Dx11
