    Hello everyone,

I am the happy (up until today) of a P150HM laptop since november. I have been using it those last few weeks and i don't regret buying it!

This morning however, when i turned on the computer, it powered up, the fans are running, but the screen remains black and i can tell that nothing is really running (i mean it is not the screen that is broken or anything like that, i don't think anything is really starting except the fans).

I turned it on a few times and sometimes it doesn't even remain on (after a few sec or even almost immediately, the computer shuts down), most of the time it just remains on, still not launching anything and the only led that are on are the BT's one and the two on the front of the computer (green).

What can i do to fix that? I looked at the ram but it doesn't seem to change anything.

The first few things you can try is:
1.) remove all power sources (AC adapter and battery) and press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Then try powering on again with only AC power.
2.) Reseat your RAM. If there is a weird hibernation state that is stuck in your RAM, removing it and putting it back in again can get rid of those states.

Thanks for trying to help me, i appreciate that, i tried both, i had tried for the RAM before but didn't do anything and i also tried the AC and battery thing but didn't work either.

Malibal told me to send the computer back so i guess i can't do much more. I'll have to wait before i can enjoy playing with my P150hm but i'll wait and enjoy it when i come back from my holiday.

i have exactly the same issue. This Monday morning I turned my laptop on, scanned my fingerprint, desktop showed up, so I went to take a shower. When I came back from the shower, the screen was all black and the same lights were on. I took ram out and put it back, also tried in different order and one to other slot but it`s still the same.

Try connecting it to a external monitor, see if there is a display.

I had this issue, the pin that connects the screen had come loose or wasn't in proper contact.

I fixed this issue like 2 days ago by leaving my laptop without the battery and power supply for like a day and reconnecting them back...got BSOD and had boot repairs for like 2 times then been working stable again so far...

download who crashed which will give a boot report so we can check if its hardware or just driver problems.

normally in the past the above IRQL is caused by a graphics card driver.
have you updated your drivers lately and which have you got, nvidia or ati?
if so did you get them from official website or somewhere like laptopvideo2go. also did you do a auto update or a clean install in safe mode.

ive also noticed this once after a windows update patch.

I started another thread earlier today, before I saw this one. had the same thing happen. Finally after trying various things I got it to start by simultaneously pressing and holding for about 6-7 seconds, the Function and F2 ( LCD on/off ) key and the power button. It doesn't start, but then after releasing those keys and pressing the power button again it started up normally.

It could be just a coincidence that it started after that, but it played dead for about 45 minutes and I had tried many other things including opening it and checking RAM, hard disk, and removing/reinserting the battery.

yup thats the normal keys to turn backlight off. press again or use touchpad to turn it on again.
no idea why it took 6-7 seconds as its normally instant.

I wonder if you are experiencing the same root problem as me but it is manifesting itself in a different way.

I have a sleep issue which can result in the PC going blank with fans running once logon is reached.

Does your PC sleep correctly? ie when you close the lid does the laptop correctly go into sleep mode?

Mine does not, the screen goes black but the fans and power is still quite clearly active. I then have to hold down the power button to shut the laptop down.

I think there has been some auto windows update in the last week or so which has induced this behaviour. Things were working perfectly before.

what have you got your power options set on.
control panel > power options > chose what closing the lid does.

this is with vista so im not sure if its the same with windows 7

Mine doesn't sleep. I have it set to dim display after 10 minutes or to turn off display after one hour, that's it. I just turn it off completely when I'm done.

Today it wouldn't start. Power led would come on, I could hear fans and hard disk spin ( sometimes ), but nothing else would happen and I would have to shut it off by holding power for 4 seconds. On some tries ( I tried to turn it on many times for about 45 minutes ) power led would come on and then it would shut right off. Pressing Fn and F2 ( turn lcd on or off ) did nothing. It was only after 45 minutes that for some reason I decided to press power and Fn and F2 simultaneously and hold that for 6-7 seconds. Nothing happened, it did not power up. Then I let go and just pushed power and it powered up normally. Coincidence or whether it had something to do with holding those keys and power down, I have no clue.

I have a feeling it had more to do with it being left to sit for that time period, more than the key press. It's a strange issue, but others have had problems where just leaving the machine overnight and trying in the morning seems to have corrected the problem. I have no idea what could cause that, except maybe a stuck power button or something (that un-sticks when left alone)
