Hi guys since I'm looking to buy a laptop for college that would cost me about $1200 USD after completion and I was going to buy the P151HM1 but then I realized that I know people who work at Intel so I can get an i7 for pretty cheap. Thing is that Malibal does not sell laptops without CPU, I emailed XoticPC but no reply so far :/
So my question is, where can I buy a laptop barebone kit, or a laptop dealer that allows me buy the laptop without a CPU (at a fair price)? I'm looking for laptops that are around the P151HM1 level in performance, can be MSI, Clevo/Sager, Asus or whatever. (so far I have found rjtech.com and rkcomputer.net). I'm really interested in a dealer that will sell me a complete laptop excluding the processor, if Malibal allowed me to do that, they would pretty much automatically get my business.
Also how do barebone warranties work? If something is wrong do I have to take out the parts I put in and send it back?
Sager/Clevo dealers (like XoticPC) offer warranties like 3 year labor 1 year part, how does that work? Basically I have warranty for 3 years but after the first year if anything needs to be replaced i pay the cost?
Also why is the MSI 16F2 Barebone Laptop page on XoticPC blank...?

I'm pretty sure if Malibal could do this, they would have. No point in turning away a sale
That said, you're not much over $1200 with a base config 2630qm. Maybe $100? They might work the price a little to get you closer to $1200, I'd shoot for that -
well if you are willing to install the CPU than you might as well install everything else.... so just buy the barebone and all the parts and assemble it yourself! you'll have a nice feeling in the end knowing what you did.

I think rjtech.com can sell you a laptop without CPU. Not sure how it works, but you can give them a try.

well i was looking at this MSI MS-16F2-004 (MS-16F2-ID1) 15.6" FHD LED Intel® Core i7 Barebone Gaming Notebook but can't find any reviews such as battery life and stuff so if anybody can get me some info on this laptop that would be great

Check Mythlogic, I could easily see them willing to do that. Hell, they would let you send them the CPU and they'd put it in for you with the rest of the laptop.
-
Don't take this as fact though, you never know what you get until you ask them -

When it says 7.7lbs, does that include the AC adapter? I really hope it does because this is for college lol, yea and i don't think i can afford mythologic

It's about the weight of a good sized textbook with a workbook.
-
Ugh... The p151hm1 is like one pound lighter... Is that a huge difference?

The P151HM1 and the P150HM are essentially the same in dimensions/weight. (They only differ in power supply output, stock screen, and case finish).

I meant compared to the msi

can somebody please confirm for me if the MSI 16F2 is the GT683R? From what I've read, the GT683R has about 3+ hours of battery life while looping a movie so It seems like a good buy if I can handle the weight.

I think this confirms it, FS: MSI Barebone Laptops! - [H]ard|Forum

Ah, seems like they are the same thing except that the barebone has no lights and all that extra stuff.
