    Hi Guys,

I have ordered a laptop (P723) from XMG with single GTX780m.. but because they ran out of GPUs they decided to use a SLI chassis with single GPU, just to honor their delivery commitment and i'm grateful to them for doing this.

but i'm not sure if this could affect the performance of the laptop in anyway... I have read people saying that its always better to have a single GPU than in SLI because there are issues with drivers or something..

Could you guys please share your thoughts on this setup..

    regards,
    keyur

Well in either case, you have a machine running off a single GPU, performance wise the systems will be nearly identical with similar configurations. The SLI systems have a bit more robust cooling system and so you'll likely see better temps when running with a single GPU. One difference is that this is a chassis that doesn't support Optimus, so you won't get the greatest battery life.

Yeah as much as I prefer the SLI chasis to the single card setup that swap is not always a plain choice.

As pointed out the battery life will be significantly shorter, however you don't have to worry about graphics switching, you get that thunderbolt port (which can act as a display port) and you can overclock the internal LCD to get a higher refresh rate.

Can't the LCD be overclocked on the single GPU P170/177 chassis?

No, intel does not have that ability.
