I am officially done with Sager. Permanently. The "SAGER" on the laptop lid has been peeling off slowly over the past 6 months, and the "A" finally came off. Unfortunately, it also seems to have become stuck to the sides of my laptop case AND SCRATCHED MY LAPTOP. I thought it might be superficial, but I can FEEL the scratch. Thanks to Sager's cutting corners, the top of the laptop looks awful. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to fill this in/cover this up? Unfortunately, the material is that rubberized plastic junk.
I am never buying another Sager product. First, the 7970m debacle and the poor support (regardless of whose fault it is, I expect support from the laptop manufacturer). Second, the plastic is separating near the front of my laptop (it creaks horribly if I rest my hands on it). Third, this peeling label (which should have been a nonissue). I have purchased some horrible products (GeForce FX 5600 Ultra, anyone?), but this one is infuriating. Wish I could get my money back.
Sorry for the rant.

Really? Does the laptop still work perfectly? It's a scratch replace the top cover if it bothers you that much. I get annoyed when I get a scratch on my new jeep but I'm not gonna turn it in.

ok bye bye

When paying for a premium product you don't expect stuff like this to happen. At least I don't.
-
Unfortunately, it really bothers me (for more reasons than "it looks terrible"). It is another example of people not being able to do their jobs or not doing them well. If you cannot do something well, you should not do it. I am a perfectionist, and this scratch is really annoying me. It extends abut 10 inches across the lid and is extremely obvious.
If I had scratched the lid and it was clearly my fault (If you put a cell phone in a pocket with keys and scratch the phone, is it the manufacturer's fault? If you drop a phone and it shatters, whose fault is it?), I would not be so angry. Also, I cut myself a few months ago on the "R," which partially lifted off the laptop. I did not notice it had begun to lift and moved my hand across the lid = long cut. I had no idea it would be that sharp. So, yes, this seems irrational, but bad things keep happening.
Edit: I should stop rambling now. The NP9150 is rather new, but does anyone have any experience with filling in scratches on these laptops? Is replacing the lid the only ultimate solution? Thanks! -
DOOCCAM, Will you please take a quick picture of said defect? I was just about to buy the 1950 and your advice looks like I make a reconsider! Sorry for english.

Computers do come with warranties that covers defects in "worksmanship" and material. I havent heard of this issue before so i dont know if it would be covered but it wouldn't hurt to ask you reseller if they would be able to provide a replacement cover.

how is the 7970m problem sager's fault?
-
Please a picture!

when i got mine, i imagined the logo would get caught on something or get peeled off eventually, so i opted for no branding. mines smooth like a baby's skin
-
I don't have access to a cam ATM, but if you like the laptop and have done your research, do not let my experience discourage you. Get the branding removed perhaps. Some of the skins are scratch-resistant as well.
Not sure if this would fall under warranty, but I could ask. I know I am making more out of this than I should. Mostly, I was wondering what I could do as a quick fix to cover it up. The rubberized plastic might make it problematic.
I am at least going to remove the rest of the label. Not doing much good with "S GE " on the laptop.
No, but their claim that the 7970m is not defective is tenuous, at least if you consider a computer component to be hardware + its associated software. Is it finally defective now that the "fix" causes serial BSODs
?
Definitely. I requested removal of the label on a second laptop I purchased shortly afterward, but Sager still attached one... -
, DOLAN, you don't own a cell phone with a camera in it? Sounds like you're either exaggerating or this story is completely made up. It's not hard to snap a picture with your phone or maybe your mom will let you use hers, you peasant basement dweller.
