I recently bought a Clevo W860CU and noticed that the exterior of the laptop is plain with no logos. I've seen various laser engraving of laptops and found them to look awesome. I was wondering if Laser engraving the Clevo would be safe for my laptop and cause no damage to the monitor because I would love my laptop to have a sick design with my own logo. Also, if it is safe, does anyone know where I can do it and how much it costs? I live in Sacramento, California, USA.

    Thanks! :D

    Hi

We used to offer this service on the 860TU and 570TU models as they had an anodised aluminium lid and the laser etching results were pretty good.

We don't offer it on the new 860/870CU models because of the material, however I would suggest contacting a professional laser etching company to get their advice. It won't damage your screen, the main problem is that all materials are slightly different and therefore will react differently when etched. We used to use a test sample chassis lid to get the etching machine set up properly so preperation is key, though of course if you can find a company who laser etch for a living they will have more experince with different materials.

Because we all know laser engraving your own logo increases your chances for a woman to talk to you while you're all the way in the back of Starbucks playing WoW.

    It increases FPS.

We should all get laser engraved notebooks..because we can.

Why even post if you're going to be sarcastic and offer no help whatsoever?

Btw, thanks Neil for the input. Do you have any recommendations to a laser etching company?

Because I'm a basement dweller with nothing better to do than make sarcastic comments so I can make you feel insecure and make me feel better about myself.

Neil, you do still offer some paint options on the W860 though, correct?

Engraving is good actually in case of theft as well. I'd engrave the serial on the laptop somewhere that can't be easily hidden or removed. Also engrave your full name, address, etc.

Neil is in the uk so it might be a better idea to try some of the usa resellers like xoticpc or sager.

Yup, full paint options are still on the website configurators :)

NP. For the US I would follow MrDJs advice:

I have also seen US companies that etch Mac laptops so I'm sure there are lots of companies that you could find online that offer the service and would be able to see their quality if they have a gallery of work or similar.
