Hi! I've had my xps 1530 for over 4 years now and decided to get a sager np8130 for replacement!

I already placed an order through reflex notebook (since I live in Canada I assumed Canadian re-seller would be better for me than us ones.)
My order hasn't been processed yet but I will be wiring the money tmr and after that it will be all set!

So before I make the payment I just wanted to make sure that my spec looked okay..

Also, would it be possible to run skyrim on high to ultra high settings with this spec?

Please let me know if there's any other suggestions!

    Thank you :)

GTX 560m might not cut it for ultra settings, depending on where you are viewing in the game.

You could overclock the card, and it could work.

I suggest you get an upgraded 95% gamut screen, is it not available?

    Thanks for the quick reply!
and yes, the upgraded 95% gamut screen is available.
but I don't know what differences it would make..
The only thing I know about computer is graphic card.
I know gtx 560m is better than gt 555m and such..
Since I know next to nothing about computers, I've been asking my friend for suggestions and he didn't really mention anything about screens so I thought it wasn't necessary.
Is there a significant difference between the basic option and the upgraded 95% gamut screen?

Yes, the 95% screen is one of the best screens available, and it is very hard to swap out the screens later on.

If you can stretch a bit, I would get the screen upgrade / and the GFX card upgrade to the 6990m.

What is your budget? The P150HM (8150) offers the 6990m, which will be more than 2x the power of the 560m. If you wanted to play a larger number of games on high/ultra, that's the card you'd need to go with. The 560m is decent, but not high end.

I wish I could.. apparently 6990m is much better than gtx 560m it seems like.
But my original budget was around $1200-1300 and I am already $100 over it :(
So aside from screen and graphic card, everything seems okay?

My original budget was $1200-1300 so I am already about $100 over it.
It seems like if I change to np8150 and go for 6990m, it would cost me at least $1700..
Also when I used to play WoW, I went raiding with 5-10fps...
so I guess as long as it is better than that I would be satisfied.

Unless you ISP gives you greater than 150Mb/s down, or you use your WiFi a lot to transfer data files between computers on your local WiFi network at home, school or office, there would be no point to a 300Mb/s (6230) or 450Mb/s (6300) card. It would be like buying a Ferrari to drive around the parking lot.

You could get some of that $100 over budget back by dropping down to a lower WiFi card.

I just checked my network status and it only goes up to 18.0mb/s and I guess wireless network card upgrade was unnecessary.
I am going back to the basic 'Internal 802.11 B+G+N Wireless LAN + Bluetooth Combo Module' which will save me extra $40 or so.
    Thanks for the info!

Thank you Ryan and Malibal#2 too for the suggestions!
Come to think of it, I don't think I need a high-end laptop atm.. so I am just going with what I have right now.
I will buy something better when I graduate :)

I know you just stated that you do not need a high-end laptop at the moment but I could not resist....I think in your budget you could swing it. It would prob cost around $1350 for an 8150, though thats not including whatever Canada shipping charges or taxes are....not sure how that works.

No wireless upgrade, thermal paste (do it yourself), get the 2630QM, some companies will deduct $50 for switching the ram to 8GB 4X2 instead of 2X4 (you only really need 8GB so either way...) and keep everything else, only upgrading to the 6990. Just an idea. Its worth checking out.

Yes I did think about getting np8150 instead and upgrading to 6990m, but then again, my original budget was around 1200-1300 and pushing for 300 more is too much right now..
I am pretty sure I won't regret spending 300-400 more if I look at it in a long term.
However, it is a lot of money and considering that I am a student and am not working atm, I should probably go with more economical choice.
But again, thx for the suggestion!

at that price range wouldn't it be better to go force-1761 with the 570m ?

If you want to stay with a 15.6" screen, and the nVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M 192bit w/1.5GB GDDR5 is enough video card, I would stay with the Sager NP8130 with the adjusted configuration suggested here. ;)

    I didn't like the exterior :(
    It looked too dull!

Yes! I downgraded wireless care as you suggested and wired the money so it is all done now :)
Now I just have to wait for it to get here.. which is going to be the hardest part..
