I need latest bios for 9260 which will make quad 6700 work. I contacted sager thru email but have not got a response in 4 days. Can someone help me in getting the bios for 9260. I have already purchased the processor and it is now staying idle.

Also will it work without motherboard revision.

Thanks a ton for the links

Which should i download from clevo website

    BIOS Support Q9550 CPU. D900C_20.zip1 2 1.00.20 1375 2008/10/14

    or

BIOS 1. KBC/EC firmware for VISTA keyboard only.
D90C_H813N.zip1 2 1.00.13N 56 2008/12/12 (Seems to be latest version based on date).

Also should I burn the iso file to a CD or DVD

Better check carefully with those two downloads, because they look like two different bits of code from what you posted - the first appears to be a proper BIOS upgrade for supporting quads, the second, however, appears to be a firmware update for the Keyboard controller to fix support for a Vista-based keyboard issue.

You will need to update BOTH the bios AND the kbc/ec firmware to get a working machine.

The kbc/ec (H8) firmware must be updated first (I suggest to H813) and the BIOS updated afterwards (you might as well go to .22).

There is a guide to doing this in my sig

Arv_Reloaded: the Sager Bios is fully automatic flash just burn the image file on a CD or DVD disk boot from your CD-DVD rom and the update is fully automatic this Sager bios is version 1.00.20 with EC firmware version 1.00.10 for Vista
the first link is Clevo bios site with lasted bios version 1.00.22 and EC-firmware 1.00.13 both support the cpu you want and both are very good stable version if you download from Clevo site you have to make bootable USB Flash drive and copy the 1.00.22 bios + EC firmware 1.00.13 (EC-Firmware Download the version for you XP or Vista)
first you have to update the EC-firmware then the bios
if you dont know how to do it send me PM i will make it for you

I am telling you people are really awesome. I updated the bios by burning the image and replaced the processor. It works like a charm. I also tested a Q9550 processor. That too works fine. But when use SpeedFan program to measure temps it shows that the clock is at : 2259 MHZ.

Is the Q9550 running at 2.2 GHZ speed. I am not sure how to read this info or what it implies.

But I could notice the improvement in speed already.

But after you said I tried to stress the Processor the max Ran 4 - 5 intensive applications + ran SuperPI for 32M. The MHZ varies but the maximum sticks at 2260 instead of something around 2800 for Q9560. Is this because of any Bus speed limitations. The processor is 1333 and could the motherboard handle only till 1066. Could I correct this or nothing can be done on this. any thoughts.

Arv_Reloaded: i dont know why you cant run it at full speed but i think that this maybe is software problem try with clean windows install or reset the cpu
go to bios to see with what speed bios reads the cpu if there is with full original speed then this is the software problem and reinstall the windows
if the bios dosnt read full cpu speed then reset the cpu

nah, it's not unlocked. i can clock my cpu to 1600 no problem. but it wont run. only runs on 1333
and you cant pin mod a q6700 up to 1333 or 1600
same with a qx6800. i just tested that one and it wont finish booting at 1333. gets into about 10 seconds and locks up.

Q9550 has 1333mhz bus speed not 1066 you have to try to reset your cpu but will be good if you update the system bios from Clevo site to 1.00.22 bios and 1.00.13 firmware first you have to flash firmware

GanGstaOne: Did everything as you have said

    1. Created a USB bootable disk using your tutorial(Great Guide)
    2. Copied Firmware 13 and Bios 22
    3. Updated firmware 1st and bios next in dos
    4. Restarted the machine.

The processors still stays at max only at 2260 and not more that. Confused what to do now??

GansgstaOne.. could you point me to the latest KBC and Bios update firmware for our machine that does not require putting the installation files onto a USB key.

i want to burn it straight onto a CD and use the "boot from CD" option in the bios.

    Thanks in advance :D

The kbc vista/xp is for different versions of the keyboard, not what OS you have installed. If you have the keyboard with the vista orb style windows key, you have vista (which 99% of people seem to have)

    Vista kbd:

Thanks for the help, bios loads and runs smooth.

Anyone know the *fastest* dual core processor a 9260 (probably one of the 1st ones) will support now with the latest firmware loaded?

Any core 2 duo with TDP lower than or equal to 95 W. Probably up to 3.33 GHz
