Hello all! I believe I might just be the latest addition to the Sager family here on Notebook Review. Only a few days ago on July 12, I had an order placed on DiscountLaptops.com and because this was something of a "half birthday present" I was on a very strict budget, so I had an order placed for a Sager NP5750. I had the pleasure of working with Amber from Xotic PC and had hoped that I would be able to buy my new notebook from them, but even after all the praise I gave her and the company, the buyer chose to place the order with DL. Either way, I am very excited to be getting my new (and first) notebook but I also have a few concerns about the future. I feel this may be necessary for one of my questions, so below is the configuration I chose online.
Sager NP5750-V
17" WXGA+ (1440 x 900) Active Matrix Display
Intel Core Duo 2.0GHz Processor
ATi MR x1600 128MB w/ up to 512MB Hypermemory
1024MB DDR2 Memory (1024MB x 1)
80GB HDD (5400 RPM) SATA
Etc., etc., etc.
Pretty good for $1,600 if you ask me...
1. This may sound a little crazy, but for a while now I have been looking forward to the release of Windows Vista and do plan on buying the Ultimate version, realizing this truly may be the biggest waste of money ever. I know that this laptop is "Vista Capable", but what I'm really interested in is it's ability to run Vista with all the visual goodies such as Aero and such enabled.
2. I have been told that these notebooks were designed to make GPU upgrades possible...and I have also been told that, currently, there are no 5750-compatible GPUs available right now. I may be taking my life into my own hands by asking this, but does anyone know when these may become available?
I plan on using my new notebook for web browsing, music, and some very light gaming such as Guild Wars and even, here it comes...The Sims 2. >.> Again, this is my first notebook and I don't know much about the power they pack so if anyone can tell me, will the 5750 be able to run these two games with decent graphics and framerates?
I better shut up now before this gets any longer. Anyway, I'm happy to be the latest addition to the Sager family and can't wait for it's arrival, which I expect will be in about 1.5 weeks or so. Anyway, I'm off now...and thanks in advance for any and all help.

Congrats on your purchase!
1. The X1600 should be more than capable of rendering/running Vista's Aero
2. I do not believe your X1600 is upgradeable nor am I aware of any plans or announcement by ATI at this point to make that GPU upgradeable. The only ones on the market currently that are upgradeable are the the Nvidia MXMs
3. Your Sager 5750 with X1600 should be able to run both games with ease in mid-high settings with all the bells and whistles. It might strain when running the latest graphics intensive games like Oblivion -
Congrats on a bang for the buck notebook.
Remember to do the Windows XP Dual Core config to get the best performance and stability for your Intel Core Duo.
Sager, as well as almost every other OEM out there does NOT configure it for you. Tsk Tsk.
