i wanted to make sure i had the latest driver for my wifi card and was wondering if sager/clevo had a specific one that they use. intel recommends us to use brand-specific wifi drivers, but i couldn't find anything for my NP8850's intel 6300 on xoticpc.com. do i just stick with the latest one found on the intel site? thanks much!

Use the Intel ones, there is no such brand wireless card drivers because the card is not custom/specific made, they are all the same.

Check for version 13.3.0.24, is the latest for 6300. ;)

    thanks and +rep'd.

one quick question: i followed malibal's link and downloaded the 64-bit version for my OS. i then went into my control panel's uninstaller and uninstalled the "intel wifi/pro chipset driver" file as if i was deleting an old GPU driver before installin the new one. is this method fine for wifi drivers as well? i restarted before and after, and ran CCleaner afterwards to make sure.

i was just wondering if this method of driver install is ok cuz i don't notice a new "intel wifi/pro chipset driver" file under my installed programs anymore.

You have two types of installer packages.

One contains only the driver and the other has the driver and the Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software, wich is used for network profiling and remote IT management(not very usefull in home/simple networks).

If you don't see any reference in the installed programs list, means that you installed the driver only package.

Nevertheless, you can confirm if the driver was updated via Device Manager:
