Do you mean it's in the red zone instead of green? I haven't played L4D for a while so I don't know how to compare the ping values. If it is, then could possibly be some bad wireless drivers. My friend's M1730 had really bad ping although we were all on a wireless ad-hoc. Not sure which Intel card it was, but reinstalling the drivers from scratch solved the problem.

Should definitely be in green zone if it's a LAN game. We didn't even use a router. I used my wireless to set up the ad-hoc.

well like i said it was in the green zone with my friend, since he created the server and his in another town, so i actually had very good ping...but over steam servers its forgetable.

i believe your problem lies withing the steam servers. I have the same problems as you with any steam game (counter strike source/ team fortress 2/ left 4 dead). My 5300 wirless card hates either my router or steam, i have opened various ports, changed numerous wirless settings and can not get my wirless card to play nicely with steam/my wireless router. My other wirless cards in my PC's have no problem with steam. It really sucks :(

Well i had a decent experince about some 15 min ago, 77-100 ping range...but it was only one time.....the thing is, day of defeat and counter strike old versions work fine....source stuff seems to be in trouble it seems.

This is a problem for me as well...however in cs1.6 i get great ping. In L4D, i get around 100-200 ping.

Team Fortress 2 i get good pings, however every 45-50 seconds constantly my ping jumps to 300-400 for 1-2 seconds and then goes right back down. Its effing annoying.
