I'm curious to dual boot my laptop for fun. Haven't done that in forever since my old Dell Studio laptop I got in 2008. I've only ever messed with Ubuntu and Linux Mint.

Any recommended distributions? Also, anything in particular I need to know about drivers and setting things up properly (I don't remember much from my studio laptop other than a built in store/downloader located the necessary drivers for me)? I remember Optimus was not available on Linux back when the P150EM was new, is that still a thing and how does that affect using the dGPU?

Better asking on a linux forum but I have heard optimus support recently getting better.

If you want Optimus I would suggest looking at Pop_OS, basically one of the few distributions to really get that right.

Clevo being rather esoteric, you may find pretty limited anecdotal advice on this, but yes, it has gotten better as Meaker mentioned. I've not tested the P1xxEM on any current distro, but did have some luck running other machines w/ Optimus on Zorin and Mint.

I never got Pop OS to install on my AW jokebook with optimus mode. Ubuntu 18 installed fine in Nvidia or Intel GPU mode. For nvidia optimus laptop I'd recommend sticking with Nvidia dGPU as default and not switch to Intel because of black screen issues.
