I was unsure of where to put this, the linux forum, or the 2090 forum, so i went with the better option.
How well do you think linux (Gentoo, Unbuntu, Sabayon) will run on the 2090? By "well" i mean how well will linux be compatible with the hardware (especially the fingerprint reader, hotkey buttons, and webcam!)?
Has anyone recieved their 2090 and tried linux on it yet?![]()

You will first need to wait for newer releases of major Linux distributions that include drivers to support such new hardware.
-
Ah well. Linux on its own is enough of a security measure, i suppose.

You should ask Lemur, he intends to put Linux on his 2090 and seems very knowledgeable about it. Try PM'ing him.

I will install Linux as my primary OS on the 2090 when I get it. But I don't have it yet.

I'll be interested to hear your results, when it arrives!

I'll be installing Ubuntu. It will require some tweaking to work with some of the hardware because that's typically the case when installing Linux on new hardware. I'm going to document what I'll do to get things working as much as possible.

I intend to try installing Linux (Ubuntu or Gentoo) on my incoming 5790, and I'll be sure to write up some documentation. I know a lot of that is different hardware than a 2090, but maybe it will help.
Also, the 2090, at least from first glance, looks like it should be pretty linux-friendly for the major parts. nVidia graphics cards are well supported by a binary driver, and the wireless chipset has some heavy developing going on at http://intellinuxwireless.org/ - I think they're making good progress there.
Linux on the 2090?
