If i go into a sager reseller and pick up the laptop, would there still be tax on it? i.e. cash deal and no tax? thanks

Most likely yes

Yes. And just because you order something online from another state doesn't mean you're not supposed to claim it on your taxes. Most people just don't.

Typically out of state resellers do not collect tax. But, this would be the customers responsibility upon arrival.

i mean if say i buy from reflexnotebook in canada, since i live in canada, and i go to their place to pick it up, would there be taxes charged? would warranty still be valid then?
-
You would have to pay both GST and QST. The warranty would be valid as usual, and in addition you would be covered by Quebec's consumer protection laws since the sale took place there.
-
so no way to avoid that tax by doing like cash under the table?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
That would be illegal.
-
i dunno, we have a saying in class that its not cheating if the prof/TA doesnt find out about it

Do you really think a boutique seller is going to risk a personal transaction "under the table" just so you can save a few quid? For all they know it would be some sting operation.

oh yeah i guess thats true, no way around it i guess, but they do save shipping fees though
Local pickup?
