Hello, I have a Powerspec 1720, which I believe is Clevo # PB70EF. First time Clevo owners, and loving it so far!

The OEM power adpater is a "Chicany A17-230P1A". Due to my setup, and not wanting the heavy brick dangling in the air, I need a replacement power brick with a longer cord (between laptop and adapter). Currently it's ~4ft, and could use 5-6ft. Any options that you're aware of?

    Spec are:

    AC Input: 100-240V ~ 3.5A, 50-60Hz

    DC Output: 19.5V = 11.8A, 230W

    Thank you!

These cords are pretty short due to the high ampage going through them compared to smaller adapters (in this case 12 amps is a lot!).

Thanks for your response, Meaker. I was wonder why the wall-side cord was abnormally long, and the laptop-side shorter than normal. So I'm guessing nothing is available on the market for these in a longer length, even with a thicker gauge cord?

There are always "universal" alternatives, but you can never be too sure about them. There's nothing specifically designed to replace the OEM adapter that I'm aware of, let alone a more premium adapter (thicker gauge).

Short of modifying an existing brick I don't think so.

An extension cord wont help my issue since it's cord between the laptop and the ac adapter that's too short. While laying in bed, for instance, the heavy power brick dangles off the side of the bed a few inches off the ground. I'm concerned that'll eventually damage the power port on the laptop.

A longer cord the other end would let you rest the brick on the bed. So long as it's on top of the sheets and uncovered it should be safe.

You're right, the strain from the weight of the brick can damage something in time. It would be better to have the adapter up on the bed.

Too hot and heavy for the bed, so I wanted to have it on the floor.

    TWSS. Giggidity.

But I'll give that a try and see if it works out ;-)

    Thanks again all.

And if anyone ever does come across a compatible replacement adapter with a 5-6 foot cord built in, let me know...I'd be super appreciative. :) Cheers

I found this one, used by an ASUS model. https://www.adaptervendor.com/230w-...0390900-original-power-adapter-charger-122666

Looks like it's got the same power specs, except an AC input of 3.2A vs. 3.5A. DC output specs are the same, though, and the DC cable is almost 6 feet, versus the 4 feet on the one that came with my Powerspec 1720. Plug size/shape appears to match, as well.

Any thoughts as to whether this will work?

So long as the connector is the same and the voltage you are good to go.

Pets tend to have fur and make good insulators, maybe not such a good idea :p
