    A gtx280 is only 360$?
Holy crap, and to think the stinking mobile cards cost twice as much and are way less powerful :(

I made a similar list when I way saving up to build my notebook.

It was not practical for me to built a high-end desktop since I am rarely every home.... so I needed a high-end notebook instead and a basic desktop workstation (mid-range gaming) at home.

So I can game and do heavy work on the go.

Its been 2.5 years... I havent looked back since. :)

I have a highendish desktop that i don't use that much anymore, complete with 280gtx and overclocking, I just like being on the couch so much better then being in a chair facing a monitor thats facing a wall...

That and i got tired of leaking watercooling parts and exceptionally loud fans if i was to remove the water cooling... lol

I went back and forth on the decision of a high end laptop for a long time.

Its been almost a year now and I will never look back.

Having an amazing laptop is like the greatest thing ever haha. Being able to not sit at my desk all the time.

Gaming at work ( i mean during lunch or free time of course haha )

It has been only recently that laptops had enough power to max out just about every game. This is a new era for laptops.

Most likely, I'll never buy a gaming desktop ever again. Probably some kind of docking station could be useful at times.

A powerful desktop, a bit cheaper of course, but... really you are only buying it for a few more FPS in Crysis on Very High.

Of course, if you don't really need a laptop and are perfectly content with a web-surfing/email checking/yahoo games playing laptop, then super desktop it is.

Maybe you would like to wait for the new Intel i7 CPU line. Also, where's the liquid cooling :p. For the GPU, I personally prefer eVGA since the warranty covers tampering (eg cooler installation) and overclocking. And where is the Raptor HDD 10,000rpm with another 1TB HDD :D? For the case, if there is no liquid cooling, I really like the Antec lineup for the awesome airflow it provides ( http://www.antec.com/usa/ProductFamily.php?lan=us&PC=4).

    Keep the Sager!

The ability to play on the go, ANYWHERE you want is amazing.
I had a school project to present , and this was while connected to a projector.
Then everyone noticed the Far Cry2 icon on my desktop, and safe to say, for half hour the presantion became a live demo of me playing Far Cry at 1920x1200, very high :D
I really felt important then :>
No freaking desktop can give me this feeling...or look as cool as a powerful gaming laptop.
I won`t probably ever buy a gaming desktop again..
    Just laptops :)

I game in college, its pretty cool if you are doing it the library, computer lab, or student center/cafeteria.

Custom gaming notebooks turns heads. :)

I like mine since I kept it un-branded so no typical person can identify it.... and I like its professional look (no crazy colors or lights).

I don`t know where you go to school dude, but here, it`s pretty cool to be able to game on a laptop like most desktops can`t.
"Wow, you can max out this game or that game?"

"wow, 40 fps in Crysis at 1920x1200"

    Etc etc.

Its pretty nice when someone knowledgeable knows what you're doing but for most of the people, you just look g33k (since at least half of the students have a .Mac). But you can still have some fun, just need a power outlet :p

Haha so funny. Thats why I didn't get the 901C! The 5796 is sooo powerful already, just didn't make sense financially. But now I need a new truck. Too much offroading has screwed my front end and powertrain. Anybody have a 98-2004 Nissan Frontier V6 4x4 manual ext. cab Nismo Offroad supercharger they would like to trade?

It's coming along nicely, I decided to ditch water cooling because it was taking up way to much space and was going to add to much weight. Part of the problem has been finding parts that I actually want to keep. I decided to pass on the radeon in favor of nvidia for their better drivers. Compared to my 4870 1gb the gtx 260 down clocks pretty much to the bare minimum. The radeon would only downclock 200 on the core and nothing at all on the memory, which was a pain in the XXX to constantly downclock the card with rivatuner. There isn't to much rewiring that has to be done since I decided everything will be in the same case. I have just about all the parts I need now except for a dvi cable. The entire system is really going to come out looking more like a laptop than I originally expected.
There are two intake vents on the bottom for the gpu and cpu. The cpu heatsink is actually going to be a modified gpu heatsink so that it will use a blower style fan. Originally I wanted to go with a wireless keyboard that you could simply un-clip and take out of the unit. Unfortunately my budget didn't allow for the 80$ wireless keyboard that I wanted =/, but I found a wired keyboard that will do the trick, so I can still remove it from the case. So far the bottom case is 2 inches thick and I'm trying to keep the top case that houses the lcd screen and wifi to 1 inch. Considering the power it packs under the hood and how it will be entirely upgradeable I think a total of 3 inches is going to be very acceptable.
