    Couple of questions:

    1) If you do not order a built-in TV tuner, is the coax connection still present? Can the built-in TV tuner be purchased and added later?

    2) What is the difference (aside from the obvious) between the xoticpc 3-year parts/labor warranty and the Sager 3-year parts/labor warranty?

    1) Yes the coax connection will be there

    2) There is no difference between either one, since xotic sells sager's laptops.

So there is no sane reason to buy the Sager warranty over the xoticpc warranty then, right?

    Xotic is better IMHO.

Excellent. It's also a good bit cheaper. :)

One other thing, what's the concensus on the zero dead pixel coverage? Do people often purchase that? Dead pixels is one thing that really bugs me, but $200 is an awful lot to pay for that sort of insurance.

Dead pixel coverage is not worth it. There is a 30-day back money return satisfaction guarentee. So, if you do find any, send it in and they will send a replacement :)

if dead pixels do existed, they are nearly impossible to spot under WUXGA anyway

I will probably go with the WSXGA, anyway. It will give me just a bit more battery life and WUXGA just seems like it would be too hard on the eyes, IMO. I'm used to 1680x1050 on a 22" desktop LCD. The thought of bumping that up to WUXGA and shrinking the screen size to 17" is a bit tough to swallow.

Waitaminute. You mean that if there is the slightest thing wrong with my notebook (in this case, perhaps a single dead pixel), I can send it back for a replacement with no restocking fee or anything in the first 30-days, *without* having purchased the zero dead pixels coverage?? What does the ZDP coverage provide, then??

Yes, you can send it back. You will have to pay shipping, though.

Also, if the 2nd unit you get has a dead pixel too, I'm not so sure they will let you take it back again.

Note, I am speaking of the standard 30 day policy, not the 0 dead pixel one.

The thread should help answer your question:

Also, some resellers pay shipping both ways to have the LCD panel replaced.

Hmm. I keep seeing mention of the 30-day return policy offered if you buy it from Sager. How does XoticPC.com handle it?

Nice. Do both offer a straight-up money back guarantee if I just wanted to return it?

Yes, you won`t have them like AW who use a 15% restocking fee.
But ask them yourself here, www.xoticpc.com ,they have a LiveChat feature. :)
