Hello,
My name is Tran. I have an NP7620 (D700T) laptop that recently has video problem. Until now I am almost certain it was because of overheated X800 video card but finding this part is so difficult.
After powering on for 10 minutes my screen will be completely distorted and some times Windows will tell me that ATi driver has stopped functioning. I could save my work and shutdown the machine (The screen size will be just 320x200 after the error shown) but most of the time, however, I could only just turn it off.
The suspected part is that right after powering off the laptop I always cannot power it on for at least 15 minutes or my screen is completely black no matter how many times I turn on/off again.
Would you please to help me with this issue and in case the video card should still be the problem, can you tell me where to look for a new/refurbished/replaceable card? I need this very urgently for my work so any help is appreciated.
Best regards,
Tran

Hi Tran, check the Clevo Guide for a list of resellers, see if they sell parts for your laptop.
Have you cleaned out your laptop recently? Check the cooling guide; a can of canned air would help tremendously. -
I did the clean-up thoroughly but nothing is changed. I also contacted many resellers of Clevo but only Eurocom has one new at a bit more than $500 USD mark :-( I am quite hesitated since it is not 100% guarantee that the new card will solve the problem while I have no chance to return if it won't work.
Anyone has another advice for me?

If you're not sure the video card is the problem then it's certainly not wise to gamble $500+ on it. Honestly, I don't think it is worth it to repair your laptop if it will cost you that much.
This could also be a motherboard issue; Clevo notebooks with Pentium 4s are notorious for failures.
You should look into asking a deal if you can send it in so they can run diagnostics on your D700T, check the prices. -
Hi,
Yes it is quite a gamble but sending my NP7620 half the world to Sager for a diagnosis was as costly too, given the fact that the total delivery cost alone would be close to $500. It does not mean I like either option but since I bought my laptop at 3,300 USD 2 years ago and Eurocom can give me only 20% discount (max) on new laptop after I send in mine (I have an M570U in mind and the cost would be 3,950 USD) I would end up buying the M570U right away at no-gain-no-loss while still having NP7620 with me.
I must say I am quite stuck now and want to listen to advice again. My real problem is that I love Clevo
Sincerely,

I've always liked the D700T too, even though it has a Pentium 4 CPU.
I think you should be able to get a better deal on the Clevo M570U from Eurocom. I know people have gotten lower than advertised prices. Eurocom is overpriced as it is. All you really have to do is get a price from a comparable place like Sager (Sager does ship to Canada) and send it to them, they'll knock considerable cash off. $3,950 is a ridiculous price for an M570U. Sager sells them with top-end configurations of less than $3k. www.sagernotebook.com -
OK thank you Chaz. I think 20% off now could be acceptable, of course if Eurocom goes along too.
Looking for ATi Mobility Radeon X800 for NP7620
