I am now in the process of picking out a Clevo laptop with 7700k, 1080 GTX, 32gb 2400MHZ ram.
I am particularly interested in having a 17' WQHD(2560x1440 120Hz) Display on the laptop.
I have had experience with this display on an Aorus X7 v6 DT laptop, and the stripping issue that it is known to have is sort of a deal breaker for me. Do Clevo laptops even come with that screen without the stripping issues? Anyone know a good EU reseller that offers that screen without the stripping issues? Does that screen even exist?
I have already looked through the sticky and wasn't able to find what I was looking for.
UK resellers that I have checked don't even offer that screen as an option. (3XS, PCSPECIALIST, a few others)
https://www.obsidian-pc.com/en/ do offer the screen, but it's the version that has striping issues, they have also let me know that they are looking at getting the newer none stripy screens in the future.
I've sent an email to https://www.mysn.de enquiring them about the screens that they offer, so am waiting for a reply from them. Although they are a bit more pricier then their competitors....
Anyone know of another EU based Clevo resellers that may be offering the screen that I'm looking for?

Hi
We offer this panel in the XMG U717 which is Clevo P775DM3 chassis, it's something we have sold for quite a long time and we've no records of customers asking us about it, returning it for RMA of refund due to any display issues with the WQHD AUO B173QTN01.0 panel (all the panels available in each laptop we sell are listed in the "Technical Specifications" section on every product page, for example on the U717 page:
"
DISPLAY
17.3 (43.9 cm) Full HD (1920 x 1080) Non-Glare IPS
Model: LG LP173WF4-SPD1
17.3 (43.9 cm) WQHD (2560 x 1440) Non-Glare 120Hz 5ms
Model: EDP AU B173QTN01.0
The Maximum opening angle of the display is approximately 115°."
We might be a little more expensive than some other companies but don't forget that we have a full 24 month warranty as standard (which quite a few others you mentioned in the UK don't offer unless you pay to upgrade the warranty) - plus we do all our tech support in house and don't have a Clevo Service Center repair everything for us ;-) If you have any further questions feel free to ask on here or pm me.
Chassis are ordered from Clevo with the different panels already installed, it's not possible to order from them without panels - so every version you see with a 120Hz TN at the moment is the same model and AFAIK Clevo haven't had problems with this panel reported to them. It's a mix of the panel resolution, TN opposed to IPS and so on. -
I can see your point about the warranty and quality assurances from XMG, I know I'd be paying for a piece of mind, and top notch German Engineering. However I'll end up paying around £300 extra if I buy the spec I'm after from XMG rather then PCSpecialist or Obsidian. As I'll already be spending a lot of money on this laptop and me generally needing to save up as much as I can at the moment, I feel like taking the extra risk with those (also quite reputable companies) is worth it for me. -
No problem, I understand your position. If you want to discuss the pricing feel free to pm me - I can ask our sales team if they can offer you something, we do have a €150 sale on at the moment though so not sure if you got your pricing before or after that was launched.

Obsidian have a very good rep, PCS are very good have had several Clevo's from them (they did get me a screen that wasn't listed when I got a P570WM) give them a ring and see. 3XS aka Scan DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT, terrible machines, they stick the bits in and ship, total thermal monsters

I want WQHD on P670 or N870.

I think the new versions of the auo 120hz 1440p has so much less strips... my new km1g from eurocom doesnt have any visible strips while the first version of auo 1440p i baught original from china has strips visible.

At the moment I'm leaning towards PCSpecialists as they have the best price, and great components. I'm waiting on an email reply from them, for 2 days now, so may just ring them up and talk to them instead.
I am also sort of considering the slightly higher priced Obsidian due to them Delidding by default and better thermal compound used in repasting.
I think I will have to go with PCS though just because I will get a slightly better spec for the same amount of money (512 Samsung 960 EVO from obsidian, vs 1TB from PCS) and will just do the deliding and repasting myself. Haven't fully decided yet though.

Yea it might be a little overpriced but you can get nice deals with @woodzstack , ask him. And at least you can receive good product, i didnt took the pixels warranty and my screen is perfect, 0 death pixels.

Yeah Pixel warranty is only if Pixels are mission critical for you. If you are an artist or graphics designer, sure. (but don;t waste this on a crappy panel anyways)
essentially if the pixel warranty is a very small fraction of the cost of the panel get it, but if the stock panel is only worth 50$ why spend that extra ??
If your unsure, just ask.Mr. Fox likes this. -
