I would take option 2 lower the processor and bump up the graphics if your aim is gaming

Gonna stay plugged in? Doesn't matter, both need it.

No SLI? maybe no SLI later? Take 5796.

Don't need more HD Space? no raid? Take 5796.

Need the bit of better performance? even though its questionably marginal for most uses? Get the 9262.

Do you think you will ever think "maybe I should have just gotten the better one?" haha. Get the 9262.

Future proof with a quad core? and an amazing desktop version at that? Get 9262.

Both systems game extremely well, able to max out detail and resolution and nearly cap FPS in every game except for Crysis.

The 5796 is a better value in my opinion. The 9262 is the king of all beasts. I had to have the king.

You will be happy with your purchase either way.

I think the 9800m gtx and q9650 should last an incredibly long time.

What about the Vista 64 Bit? will i have issues playing older games? I'm talking Games that played on XP not ones made in 1995.

Doubtful, it should be fine as most applications are 32-bit and Vista can handle them.

Although, Vista has a lot of its own compatibility issues.

I chose to have Vista 64-bit and XP 32-bit available in a dual-boot situation.

I game on my XP-32 bit and I keep a lot of everyday use stuff on Vista. Kinda switch back and forth.

The most important factor about buying a laptop is portability. How portable do you want it it to be?

If you plan on hauling it around with you on a weekly or even daily basis, get the 5796. Your arms and back will thank you.

If the laptop is going to move say once a month a so or when the occasional lan party arises, get the 9262.

Then it is all about what hardware you can afford to put in it :D

Particularly as there is more room for an upgrade path with the CPU than with the GPU, at least on the 9262, and there is a better chance that the higher-grade CPUs will still be available for upgrade down the road a year or so.

so if i go with the Core Duo E8500, the motherboard and everything else can accept a Quad Core later?

That is my understanding from a reseller I asked the question to a couple of months ago; however, it'd be better if you talked directly to a reseller yourself just to make sure - I'm getting old and there's more hole than cheese in my swiss-cheese memory. :D

Every once in a while; besides, since the market's gone belly-up, I'm going to have to make sure I'm contributing maximum value-added to the boss' bottom line, or who knows, I may be selling the non-electronic .apples. :D
