Hello I am going to college next year and needed to get a laptop. I've been looking at mainly a NP8650 but can't really decide between resellers. The eurocom m5 pro seems like a better deal as paying with CAD and the 10% student brings what I want to about 1170. However I've been browsing this forum and saw some negative customer service responses and it seemed Xoticpc was a bit safer of a choice. However to get the same specs of the eurocom m5 pro it'll be around 1380 which is about 200$ more ( They say on there website they price match but I don't know if the CAD payment discount would go over very well).

Also some just generic question about this laptop ( NP8650), I was wondering if anyone knew the response time for the ips monitor. As well as anyone with this laptop in college how is the overall portability and would upgrading to the 980M version be worth it?

I would trust Xotic, Malibal or Reflex any day ovet Eurocom. That said, $200 is a significant difference.

I can't speak for Eurocom, but I've had nothing but excellent service from XoticPC.

Both are quite decent in my opinion, though I do trust xoticpc over eurocom.

Only experience with eurocom is when I purchased a 7970m mxm card off them from eBay. Slow postage, but the item was well packaged. Cant comment on aftersales support though.

If you are still looking, Eurocom offers students a 10 per cent discount.

So how did you make out? Which company did you order from? I'm in the same boat with the Sager 8651/Clevo 650, either take the 10% off and CAD exchange through Eurocom, or pay more for XoticPC... laptop will be shipped to NY.

I recommend you get it from HIDevolution their customer service is superb! I ordered an Alienware Area 51 2 weeks ago and they started gathering the parts and all, then I read how bad it is in terms of not being able to upgrade it since it has a proprietary motherboard and due to BIOS issues it cannot accept 3 VGA Titan X or 980 Ti in SLI only the older 980 GTX so I emailed them to cancel the ordered and they canceled it without charging me a penny for the hassle I caused them and refunded all my money. Their prices are much cheaper than XOTIC PC as well

I'm wondering between these two sellers as well. However, I asked Eurocom if I could use CAD they say that if the machine will be shipped to a US address, I must pay in USD, which makes it more expensive then XoticPC. I don't know if there is another way around tho.

Take a look at Mythlogic, as well. They did right by me, and are a builder, not reseller, which makes a difference as well, certainly in the configuration area.

It's too bad that they dont allow you to pay with CAD currency anymore. I know they did as of 6 months ago.

I checked out both hidevolution and mythlogic, and both seem more expensive then eurocom exoticpc

If you can find the same system from Origin or Xotic Eurocom will match it.

^ What the Eurocomtechspert said. I can vouch for that ;). My reseller feedback is pending. Delivery comes fast too...like less-than-a-week delivered fast (you pay ~$26 for it but again use what he/she said, if you catch my drift).

Try ReflexNotebook.ca, they will match XoticPC etc, and are more trustworthy than Eurocom.

I think buying as local as possible is best bet, or buy from Eurocom, because your US Dollar is worth much much more. Take advantage of the pricing, it won't last. If they do not let you pay in CAD, get someone like me to configure for you, who is in Canada and is a reseller/affiliate of theirs, to ship it to you. Everyone makes money and saves at same time.

I used to go to HIDevolution, but I started to find they did not want to give me a deal, or at least not the same deals as I knew some other people were getting. So, I switched to Eurocom, and found out why.

Why did you have to use the support? Did you have a laptop issue?

My laptop was suffering hard crashes (sound loops, shut off) so I flashed Prema's BIOS v1. The crashes continued. I flashed v2 and now it just shuts off. I think the problem that existed before came across. The enthusiast in me was trying to solve the problem without sending it back for two weeks

Now I need Eurocom to help me. Given I spent $5k with them, I am hoping they don't just see it as an opportunity to extort money from me.

    More to follow
