Hey all. Like the subject says, I'm in the market for a new laptop and have narrowed my search down to either the x7200 or the 8180. I'm curious if anyone has an opinion that might sway me one way or the other.

Price range I hope to stay under is $2500. This gives me a little flexibility with the upgrades.

    Thoughts?

Thanks for the reply. My current laptop isn't yet dead, so there isn't a huge rush. In fact, I've been looking at a replacement for over a year but could never make a decision.

The one thing I noticed on the P270WM that current Sager/Clevo models lack is a backlit keyboard. Its the only negative thing I could say about Sager/Clevo. I would like that as part of my package, but its not a must-have.

Something I have to take into consideration is the cost of the P270WM. It most likely will be a budget buster, and then I'm back to square 1 trying to fit something into a certain price range and not being able to get the config I prefer.

It shouldn't be too bad. You can get a minimal configuration and upgrade it as time passes. Remember: it uses desktop CPUs which are easily found at your favorite e-tailers.

    The choice is yours, however.

I think the main question that you should ask yourself is this one: Do you want/need a 18incher or is a 'small' 17inch screen big enough for you?
    - If you decide to go for a 18incher I think the natural decision would be "Clevo P180HM (= Sager 8180) or Alienware M18x". I made up me decision between those two notebooks and eventually went for the Clevo because it has 3 hard drives (the Alienware only has 2)
    - If you decide to go for a 17incher I guess it is worth waiting for the new model as ettornio has mentioned

    8180 without question.
