I'm gonna be honest with you guys, I have NO IDEA what I'm looking for. Components are not exactly my strength. Hopefully, I can provide some info that will be helpful to you guys in helping me :D

I purchased this unit as a gaming laptop about 4 years ago, and the charger has gone haywire as of late. Part of the wire is frayed, and it occasionally sparks, which is a pretty clear signal to me that the charger needs replacing. Besides which, it no longer seems to charge the computer even if I plug it in. I've looked around on Amazon, Ebay and Newegg, and am not sure if the chargers I've found are the right kind. If anyone here knows what I need, and where I can get it, please help me!

Would either of these units work?

    Thanks in advance!

    Have you contacted your reseller?

You need a 19 to 19.5v 180w brick with a barrel type connector (outer diameter 5.5mm, inner 2.5mm)

For that sort of price you should be able to get an original from a maker like FSP or delta electronics.

Best to stick with the OEM adapter. As Meaker mentioned contacting your original reseller is the way to go.

Well the OEMs use brands like delta electronics, so if it's a genuine one of those you are fine.

Both of those listings on Amazon look like the right spec, but it's hard to say whether they use the right tip or not. You can probably get a better deal through Amazon, your reseller is simply a safer bet to go through.

When I replaced the brick in my NP8130 I just looked at the manufacturer and model information on the brick as well as the output voltage, wattage and amperage. Remember than you can get something of higher amps, but not higher voltage. Then as the others said, make sure the tip is the same dimensions. If you just do a search for the model and manufacturer of your current brick you can't go wrong.
