    Hi All,

I am looking to upgrade the video card in my Sager NP5793 from its current 8800M GTX to possibly a NVidia FX 3700M MXM 2.1 HE III if it will work in the 5793. The notebook has the .13 bios and also has the .11 EC/KBC.

The EBAY write-up says it works the same as the GTX 280M which I am not sure is right or not. I leave it to more knowledgable people to tell me about that.

NVidia FX 3700M MXM 2.1 HE III Work as a GTX 280M on eBay!

My main concerns is will it work and is it a step up from the current video card in the notebook.

I do not have the money for a new notebook for at least two years and I want to get the most out of the 5793 as possible. Since I already have a X9000 CPU in it, I can't go any higher CPU-wise as far as I know so my only choices are video and hard drive. I would like to take care of the video card now and wait until they either come up with a larger SSD drive or larger hybrid SATA drive.

    Thanks for your advice.

    Mike

It is a Lenovo FX3700m shown in the pic.

The past tests about 3700m on m570ru-u(5793) I know are based on HP version like below.
nVidia NB9E-GLM3 Quadro FX 3700M 1GB MXM Card | eBay

And you may need a vbios modification to make it stop 30s beeping and run @ 3d clock.

BTW: No need to upgrade from 8800M GTX to FX3700M, you gain little by spending $250 unless your 8800M GTX is dying.

Thanks for the information. I will skip then on the video upgrade as my 8800 is working fine so far. Plus rep for the information and saving me some money.

    All the best,

    Mike
