I was noticing in the past few days that quite few ppl are posting issues they are experiencing with the new NP5796 (keyboard, fans, vista installation...etc). This is getting me a little worried as I am about to order this model and was quite convinced that it worked almost flawlessly for everybody. Any reason why all these things are suddenly creeping up?
-
As far as "Vista installation" goes, it's a software thing. Nothing wrong with the unit I'm sure. Nothing is perfect.
Could you list the problems you've read about... atleast regarding the fans ? I doubt it's anything worth even worrying about. -
You'll always see people rush to a forum after something is first released to share their issues. Like when the Nintendo DS Lite was released. Holy crap! People still buy it all the time, but it was horrible right when it came to North America.
-
These issues are not something new. The fans are pretty much the same as the 5793. The keyboard issue only pertains to some as my laptop is fine, and i dont have any keys skipping.
-
Lol, I'm having the exact same feelings, bud
I'm going through the process of ordering one as we speak, and with all the problems that are posted, it is a little bit scary.
But I'm still quite confident... The only thing that scares me are the rumors that the fans have been changed into lower quality ones... In that case, it would pay off to wait for a fan update from Clevo... -
Rumous... nothing more... I'm sure. And all the doubts will disappear once you get the notebook in your own hands!

trouble free experience for me as well. absolutely love my notebook. the only thing is I may need a different power adapter as mine makes a high pitched noise. is that bad?

Nothing ever works flawlessly, so this system is no exception. There are problems, however, Sager seems to be better than the other major brands at eventually working these things out for current owners (as opposed to merely fixing it prospectively for subsequent buyers); for example, after a very concerted effort on the part of eleron911 and other users, and the resellers, Sager rewrote the fan firmware for the original 5791 to fine-tune the fan controls so that the fans weren't constantly revving up and down, up and down. To my knowledge, none of the other major brands has responded to the owners of its product in such a direct fashion.
Installing _Vista is, more likely than not, an issue having to do with _Vista, not Sager. -
Relax, you have plenty of time
The laptop is in its early stages , and people have not fully grasped it's power and structure. In time, you`ll see all will be well. -
If you were talking about my vista experience, then yes, that was just a disk issue with vista itself. Not the computer. My stuck pixel pisses me off, but that happens to every company. I've been lucky having 6 screens/laptops in my family with no pixel issues, it was bound to happen sometime.

Yes the power adapter makes a weird humming noise at times. The 5793 power adapter i got back in June had a little vent/fan in it, this one does not. Strange how they had those vent/fan adapters for about a month.
-
i agree, im having doubts about my 5796 order too... with the fan issues, keyboard issues, adapter humming, speaker volume and crackling, overheating issues in some cases, and hotkey issues... this isnt looking too good....
its really a shame cause im so excited for this laptop i want it to be the best i can get but these things are putting me at unease now...

I've never heard of a Sager 579x model overheating. It's the most cool running notebook I've ever seen.
-
Second coolest.
After the king, 9262, ofcourse!
-
I mean that of the notebooks I've actually seen in person. I haven't had my hands on a 9262. Yet!
-
my only concern is the stuck/dead pixel
-
overheating was only in some cases, i think one of the posters had a bad toshiba HD and it was overheating the system... im more concerned about the speakers, keyboard and adapter noise. Im also worried about installing XP from scratch i heard you had to slip in some drivers for the sata for it to be able to work and i have no idea how to do that either =(
-
Overheating of the CPU and GPU is not a problem, they keep pretty cool. At least they do for me. But overheating of the harddrive is a well known problem the NP579x has...
-
Wrong, the 9262 runs hotter than the RU/TU
The m57xxU is indeed the coolest 17 inch gaming laptop. -
The one problem I have is the fact that there is no way to try and buy this laptop. Noise is subjective but its pretty important. I'd love to be able to have just 10 minutes with it so I can get a perspective on everything about this notebook. I'm having trouble deciding between this and the new Gateway refresh.
-
Buy it, try it, return it - only out shipping (so get the slowest shipping option).
-
Same thing happens with mine when i run games, like ill be inside, then go outside (in game) then it'll make the noise, not a problem though, you have to really listen to notice
-
I wish shipping was as insignificant as you make it to be...
-
Most of the time shipping is under 20$. Unless you can be without your unit for 2weeks.
-
I don't have too much experience shipping to people, so all I've got is what you guys say till tomorrow when I check out the post office. But someone told me it would be around 80 bucks, which is about 4 times what xotic paid to ship to me.
-
It's a help type forum, basically all you hear on these forums is what goes bad so it makes a lot of things look worse than what they really are..
-
Go for the cheapest shipping them.I saw sites selling new laptops and the shipping was 25$ , for 3-7 BD.
-
maybe if you send it by ordinary post, but usually these sager companies will have a currier pick it up from you. you just pay the reseller the fees and a guy picks it up for you. it will be cheaper than 80
-
Woah! I've always heard the 9262 was cooler and quieter than the 579x..
Lots of issues with NP5796 creeping up...
