    Hi Guys
I have a sager 9261 and when i use CD-R it makes a loud noise and when i use dvd-r or + it doesn't make the noise. Is it common on the sager or something is wrong with mine.

Are you running something or not? Does the CD have information on it? Usually, CD drives (or DVD, whatever) will make noise like that.

well mine rattles around quite a bit when burning cd's (so much that it rattles the glass placemats on our dining room table.)

but it works so I am not worried, especially after 2 years of the grinding I got from the slotloader on my old acer :)

What kind of "loud noise?" The CD drive in my old vaio makes a whole range of different noises depending on what it's doing (and, it seems, depending on whose CD I have in there - the "recovery" CDs from Sony make an ungodly rushing sound when I put them in, but CDs that I burn myself generally make a much lower sound). It may depend on the read speed that any particular CD is set for - the faster the read speed, the higher the noise will be.

I assume he means the incredibly annoying vibration/rattle that the drive causes against the plastic of the system case.

I solved mine by sliding in Dimes / pennies around the drive bezel until it went away. Eventually I pulled the drive out and since I have re-inserted it it is mostly gone.

The noise is definitely not normal and about 4 times as loud as normal drive operation.
