    That's 3DMark05... not 3DMark06.

Actually in 3DMark05 it yields higher results than the 7950GTX. In my 9260 running a single 7950GTX I get 9843 stock.

Nvidia claims that the 8700M GT can produce 10,371 in 3DMark05 as opposed to the 7950GTX ‘s 9,395 in 3DMark05. So nox is about right since he is running a T7500. Now if you run it in a 9260 with an E6700 or X6800 you should go over 10,371.

On the down side, the 8700M GT runs at 128-bit thus providing a relatively low bandwidth about half that of the 7950GTX. On the up side it offers DX-10 support. Nvidia also claims that the 8700M GT will produce 30% more FPS in newer games with HDR.

This being said, I don’t put too much stock in benchmarks. If memory serves correctly when 3DMark05 came out Nvidia threw a fit because the benchmarks were optimized for ATI. Real world operations are different than single benchmarks.. Until someone compares the two cards in real world operations side by side we only have the claims of Nvidia and the 3DMark05 bench results. I wonder why Nvidia did not use 3DMark06 benchmark?

nox, would you be interested in running 3DMark06 benchmarks? If it scores higher in 3DMark05 I don’t see why it would not score higher in 3DMark06 as well..

    Great info WackMan!

It's hard to have a constructive discussion around 8700 since most folks refuse to accept that it's a good GPU.

even the title is a lie....the 8700gt is not the fastest out there and im sure 95% of the poeple who know about the real world benchmarks that have been done, would agree it is not.

thats an old game! my x700 can run that at high settings and far cry! not hdr of course. what resolutions were these tests being run at also? it does not state. anything above 1440x900 the 8700gt will fall behind.

well thats the thing...there using out of date software to test new hardware..in 3dmark06 the 7950gtx beats the 8700gt....although i do not care for 3dmark at all.
