First off, Hello, i am new to the forums.

I recently used these forums to upgrade my bios and find my mobo revision, this all worked out fine, so i found myself a 8800m GTX which i installed yesterday, it works fine aswell.

I have mobo revision 4.1, im looking for penryn cores atm, but will the new centrino 2(p series) work with the mobo ?

    Welcome NBR forum lurker. :)

The Clevo M570RU is replaced by the M570TU.

The M570RU ends the last of the Santa Rosa CPU support, which ended with the Penryn's T8x00/T9x00 series.

The M570TU (Montevina - Centrino 2) has started with the new line of Penryn's P8x00/T9x00 series.

The CPUs are not interchangeable between the two platforms if you are wondering.

The Clevo M570RU(-U) tops out at X9000 for CPU, but I still dont think its worth it.

Get yourself a 2.2GHz+ CPU and you should be fine, regardless if you are comparing it to the new Centrino 2 systems.

With a Core 2 Duo 2.20GHz or higher and a 8800M GTX, you system should easily game as well as the new systems with the 9800M GT (which performs like the 8800M GTX). And its possible to upgrade to the upcoming 9800M GTX on your system since there seems to be no major update in the MXM module.

That T7500 should suffice with your 8800M GTX. :)

if you decide to you CAN USE the t8xxx and t9xxx and the x9000 chips from the penryn family. they DO WORK irregardless of what sager and some here will tell you and yes on the rev 4.1 mobo. trust me i know first hand from experience. i actually have a video of it somewhere on you tube ill look for.. if you end up upgrading and have any questions on how to just let me know. i can for sure tell you when i went from a t7500 to a t9300 to a x9000 there was a a pretty good performance gain from the 7500 to 9300. not as much from the 9300 to the x9000.

    hope that helps

Where can you source the CPUs by themselves? (ie: Not like a desktop version where you just pick it up at the local comp shop.) I imagine Xotic would sell you a CPU ..

ie: I think I had the 7700 or 7500 or somesuch.. will have to look it up; what sort of performance gain to go to the best (x9000?) .. and what sort of $$$ is that?

Found x9000 ES(engeering sample) chips for 380$ on ebay
the cost about 800$ for the regular ones afaik.
But the performance should be about the same.

A thing to keep in mind with the X9000 is that it reduces battery life. With a T9300, I got over two hours of battery life. With the x9000, I get at least 30 minutes less.
