    Hi all,
    In past times I had KBC/EC v.1.00.09S and system bios v 1.00.08
I upgraded only my system bios for the compatibility with 9800M GT to 1.00.11 and now XP SP3 32 bit wich previously recognized 3.0 of my 4.0GB , now says "total physical memory 2.5GB"...
I red something on this problem here, but have you found any solution???
    Thanks

I would like to stress the fact that I had 1.00.08, then 1.00.9S (Sager) flashed after one or two months..
Now I have only upgraded the system bios to 1.00.11 so this happened AFTER that 1.00.09S was here..

    However WIn7 64-bit recognize 4GB fully

I can confirm this. I had to revert to 1.00.09, in order to get the 512 MB back.

I suspect that the later BIOS's are for 1GB graphics cards. The BIOS assumes that a 1GB card is present and reserves more address space.

but now I have a 9800M GT...I'm not sure that a 1.00.09 can handle it!
However flashing 1.00.10 DOESN'T RESOLVE this thing..

Both .10 and .11 "hide" an extra 512MB. I have found the same.

As for whether .09 can work fine with a 9800M GT, I cannot say. (My card is an 8700M). Of course, if your card has 1GB of onboard memory, and not 512MB like mine, you *should* see 2.5 GB in windows! Definitely flash to .11 in that case.

See the link I posted for an explanation of why only 2.5GB would be visible with a 1GB graphics card.

Gone back to 1.00.09 risking very much a blind flash (because it could not recognize my "brand new" 9800M GT)...
IT WORKS, and now I have 3.0GB and 9800M GT..
surely is exactly as you have said about addresses..

The 9800M GT has the same amount of memory than the 8700M GT, 512MB GDDR3.

The only diference here, is that the PCI-e aperture size is higher on SBIOS 1.00.11.

You can't revert to SBIOS 1.00.08, because that version can't recognize 9800M GT VGA card. But SBIOS 1.00.09 support the 9800M GT PCI IDs.

Not a problem for me, I use only x64 systems... ;)

Is there any performance advantage in having 512Mb of Ram employed in PCI-Ex aperture?

Only if you're using a card that has that 512MB...(ie 1GB total in this case)
