I've been finding recently that there's an increasingly loud noise (sounds like the fan) that's heard over the headphone audio output. Using Windows Vista x64, I only have the audio level at "10" out of 100 and I can still distinctly hear this static-like sound from the output. Of course, the louder I put my volume, the louder the sound gets.

This issue isn't a subtle one either. It's like the output jack is completely unshielded or something.

I've tried muting my CD volume and muting other outputs besides the master volume one, and it makes no difference.

    Can anyone help?

Wow, a simple Realtek HD driver update completely fixed the problem.

I was getting worried there and was thinking it was a hardware issue. Weird.
